Gomes is a type of player this team crying for a long long time. It would change us immensely. Such a shame he will probably play for us very little or not at all. Doubt he will ever be injury free. Should have gone with safer options in the summer.

Mina and Keane are most alike so they are rivals you'd imagine. As for Davies and Gomes, that depends on the opposition for me. If we want a more attacking threat, we go Gomes, if we need more legs to chase and harry, we go Davies.

You're never better than when you've never played.

I'm reasonably confident that Mina will be an obvious improvement and will start instead of Keane. But Gomes was described last year as "bereft of confidence" and is now coming off a soft-tissue injury. Hopefully he's an obvious improvement on Davies, but it's not a foregone conclusion.

Mina in for Keane. Anyone saying Keane and zouma are forming a good partnership need to remember we have one clean sheet so far this season. It’s not sorted at all.

Davies is growing in confidence, and him and Gueye seem to be doing the job. It’s not a straight swap. It will most likely be some rotation. Silva has given davies the captaincy so clearly sees him as important to the side.

..it’s all about improving the team and I would like to think both Mina and Gomes will improve the team.

CBs are about partnerships. Mina forms a fine partnership with Sanchez at international level and Zouma is a similar type to Sanchez with his athleticism and powers of recovery. I fear a Mina/Keane partnership would leave us immobile and slow in central defence.

I think Gomes could be a key player in Silva’s playing strategy. He’s on record as saying he likes a no6 who dictates the pace of play but we currently don’t have a central midfielder with that quality. Davies passing and possession ability continue to be a concern, I think Gomes will be different gravy.
Please don't say that, it's too soon.

Keane and Davies you would think.

Although I'm not sure I would blood both straight away against palace. I'd be tempted to start Mina and Coleman and put Gomes on the bench. He gives us another option in a position we are still lacking and that can only be a good thing.

Our best starting 11 come this time next month, barring injuries, is likely to be...

Pickford
Coleman Zouma Mina Digne
Gueye Sigurdsson Gomes
Walcott Richarlison Bernard

Plus we finally have some options on the bench too.

It's not perfect but it's much better.

Barring injury, I genuinely don’t think we’ll see Mina until December/January now. As @Groucho said on the podcast this week (thanks mate) good sides are built on partnerships so breaking up Keane and Zouma probably isn’t the best thing to do at present even if Mina is better than both. I’m actually not sure about Gomes.
I don’t think anyone will be sure about Gomes until he’s had a good run of games.

Once we can fit him in that is.

It`s not even an issue.

Keane will soon revert back to type.

Davies is still a kid and should accept his place in the pecking order.

No sentimentality, the best players start.

Aye but when someone is out we can then bring in Davies, Keane, etc rather than Pennington or Schneiderlein etc. I really hope Gomes can be the real deal but I'm glad we have Davies there if he's not.

We spent a fortune on Mina and waited all summer for him whilst everyone was losing there heads demanding we looked elsewhere.

It’s clear how highly we rate him....as soon as he’s fit he’ll walk into our first 11 and I think he’s going to be outstanding....he’s the one Brands and Silva really wanted and I have 100% trust in them.

I suspect a creative centre mid of some description will be a priority either in January ( loan maybe ) or deffo in the Summer.

I`ve mentioned it before, Demble at Spurs isn`t getting a game and would be a great loan / short term signing, until someone of quality can be brought in long term.
