How did you see the game as a kid

Held aloft in the Main Stand as a youngster by my dad every time we scored in the mid eighties, which was a lot back then.
The Main Stand seemed scarliy steep then.

My dad lifted me over the turnstile so he didn't have to pay for me. Used to sit on the barriers. Rounded ones were rubbish as you kept sliding off. Square ones were much better.

Same hear paid but sat on the barrier in my late fathers arms, Goodison the height of those walls young kids came in with milk crates soap boxes , and small chairs etc

Got taken in the Goodison road stand (preceded current main stand) from the age of 5. Dad preferred the seats!! The height was part of the experience and the rumble of the noise from underneath was scary! St End volume was not as dominant to me as a very small child. It was vocal but slightly distant because there was loads of noise from underneath too.

I was taken with my brother and his mates in the mid 80s. I was still in junior school and used to be lifted up onto a bar to sit on in the Gwladys. Mad surge when we scored, was scary! And we always seemed to score at least 3

Obviously in 1980s America soccer was very unpopular. But we had cable television, and there was a channel that showed sports afternoons and evenings (it showed Florida public affairs programming the rest of the day). They used to show an English football highlight show. It wasn't Match of the Day, I know that. It must have been produced by the Football League for other countries and I think it covered more than just the First Division.

I don't remember much else except that the fans all went absolutely mental when a goal went in. I thought that was cool. Also I liked the name "Coventry City" for some reason. It sounded very British.

Family club. Lower bullens. We took 4 season tickets in 82.
We still have two of the same seats today, in fact, I've tonight just booked one of my kids tickets for his first game at Goodison for the Europa.
Sadly some are no longer with us from the original Family club.
We saw births, deaths marriages.. The whole lot.
We knew eachother, without really knowing eachother if that makes sense.
When 'Harry' said he was ill two seasons ago, and that he had renewed, but never showed up.. We asked Everton who 'Harry' was ? And me dad went to his funeral cos we found out.. Everton that.
The arl ladies who passed the Everton mints round to everyone, and indeed the editor of The Daily Post sat behind me with his family for decades. Indeed, his son became a journalist too and did the match reports for ceefax and then the early Internet. It was rather odd hearing him dictate the report down his massive mobile phone once he grew up.
As kids we didn't sit, we stood, walked around the walled areas overlooking the paddock area, we saw that change completely after Hillsborough too.
So many changes, so many memories.. And I was lucky enough to be the mascot too.
Aways are different altogether, but Goodison is special.

As a kid at goodison, the main thing I remember is the loud cheer when the blues scored and getting flung up on my dad's shoulders. Used to just sit on his knee and watch it. I never had a seat for the first few years, that wouldn't happen now.

My Grandad took me in the late sixties, we used to arrive early and I would watch the game from the railings in the corner of the Bullens road paddock next to the Park End.

I think I was about 5 or 6 'ish, was a night game v C.Palace, went with dad and my sister in the main stand and fell asleep.
We either drew 1-1 or won 2-1.
It's weird that I can remember this still and sort of in sketchy detail.
Unless it was dream.
