Because 99 times out of 100 1 wins and you've wasted most of your stake on unlikely doubles and trebles.Yesterday I had single bets on a 12/1 winner, 8/1 winner and a 15/2 winner.
Why oh why didn't I do doubles and trebles.
Hindsights a wonderful thing, but wouldnt a small stake round robin and accy been worth it? If you have only one winner, your single stake winnings would have covered it.Yesterday I had single bets on a 12/1 winner, 8/1 winner and a 15/2 winner.

Is around 11/2 now but as @orly said this is far stronger. I find it hard to get away from fav. War Decree...I thought it might, I noticed De Sousa was riding Benbatl and Dream Castle wasn't jocked up. I had a few quid at 8-1, I'd be surprised if that price will be around after the latest declarations.

Of course the problem with betting on favourable each way horses is that if you do it with a traditional bookie you will be restricted and then barred, and if you do it on an exchange they have separate place markets so you won't get value. This is what I was saying a couple of weeks ago about value in each-way bets..

I've noticed that it's starting to get mentioned a bit more on some of the racing channels and podcasts that I listen to. Bookies will pretend that there is nothing wrong with it, but the truth is that the current EW system is horrendously outdated and inefficient, sometimes (most of the time) vastly favouring the bookie but occassionally heavily favouring the punter. Do a google for "bad each ways" and you will uncover more.

True mate. It's hard enough to pick one, never mind two or threeBecause 99 times out of 100 1 wins and you've wasted most of your stake on unlikely doubles and trebles.
5/1 at the momentDue to run again on Thursday in the craven at Newmarket.

On a side note, I once opened an account with Stan James. I bet £10 on a horse at about 6/4 which won, then they gave me a free £10 bet which I put on a 5/1 shot which won. They then closed my account lol. Pathetic isn't it.
Benbatl ran a good race there, thought he was going to battle through. Won't be winning a Guineas though.
I used a shop yesterday, I was after an ante post bet.Yeah, bookies are very quick to shut down sharps now. I place all my bets in shops.
SJ are the absolute worst bookie, with the possible exception of RaceBets. They'll close your account if they get so much as a whiff that you know what you are doing - doesn't even have to be betting on dirty EWs; I have heard they they close accounts if they find you have taken an early price that turns out to be >20% than SP. They are a disgrace to the bookmaking industry.
TBH I don't understand why anyone with any concept of value would bet win-only at a traditional bookie. Quicker and easier just placing your bet on an exchange, and you'll nearly always get a better price. I suppose they are looking at accas and other exotic bets (which I don't even understand) that you can't do on an exchange, but these are just mugs that are guaranteed moneyspinners for the bookies over a sample of >2.
