Home form

Has been poor at home for a number of years now. Since Martinez. Some shocking defeats under Martinez. Each manager since has failed to get home form sorted although Silva got some good results too. Even Carlo during Covid was poor at home.

But it's gonna take money
A whole lotta spendin' money
It's gonna take plenty of money

It's gonna take time
Whole lot of precious time

I think its obvious why we are so poor at home as to our away form, In away games we start and finish on the back foot, defend most of the time with everybody behind the ball and hope for a breakaway, which often does happen and we score a goal, at home we try to attack more often but are unable to do so, because of lack of creative players.
I think this is right. We're a midtable team that can stay in games and it’s whether specific moments go in our favour. Away from home we don't need to come out of our shell so can wait for these moments more.

Our chronically defensive fullbacks are also more suited to sitting in away from home.

Not a way of making an excuse for our poor home form but maybe helping understand it

The weekend so far there have only been 2 home wins in the 9 fixtures played (City & Palace v bottom placed Wolves

Matchday 26 - 2 home wins out of 10 (City v Fulham, Villa v Brighton)

Matchday 25 - 3 home wins out of 10 (Utd v Spurs, Leeds v Forest & Arsenal v Sunderland

Matchday 24 - 4 home wins out of the 10 (Chelsea, Liverpool, Utd & Sunderland)

Matchday 23 - 4 home wins out of the 10

Matchday 22 - 4 home wins

Matchday 21 - 4 home wins

Matchday 20 - 4 home wins

Matchday 19 - 1 home win out of the 10

Matchday 18 - 4 home wins out of the 10

Matchday 17 - 4 home wins out of the 10

Matchday 16 - 5 home wins out of the 10

18.57% of fixtures have ended in home wins

Its been 10 matchdays since half or more of the fixtures have ended in home wins, which means its more likely than not the home team wont win.

We have all said a lot about the stadium & atmosphere at the new stadium, but i don't think that is just an Everton thing, i think its more a society thing............matchday 16 was at the beginning of December, when the fixtures piled up, the whether got worse, fans who go every week start seeing it as a chore.
Tactics this year are so set piece heavy, we think we don't play good stuff, a lot of other teams think the same. I think in todays game and society, home advantage isnt as big a thing as it used to be................unless its a special occasion

Not trying nitpick but didn’t Ronald preside over the most home wins in a premier league season at GP?

Seen a graphic there comparing spurs to West Ham 02/03, Newcastle 08/09 and Leicester 22/23

Spurs home form was considerably worse than all of those sides (though of course they still have more to play) and their away form, like ours, is near good enough for a side to qualify for europe

Maybe the current set of premier league sides are faring better with less of the ball?

I said it, if in here, or somewhere  But our home form is not too good for years if at Goodison or here. As i said before we did actually start well at the new ground and i thought we broke that curse. But we have to be awkward and do it the oppo way and be bad for months at home, instead of starting bad

It was better... but still the same result.

Problem is purely down to tactics. Dont think Moyes has a clue how to play at home.

We do not move in transition, so when we attack were outnumbered by 3-4.

We never get anyone in the box, so we fart around d waiting for a gap, but by then there are 7-8 men back.

But the thing which gets me is, its the same every game. Theres a legitimate chance to make Europe, and we cant play at home.
