Highlights (good times) in the last 5 seasons

Jeez, it must be soooo bad being a Blue. Surprised no one has said Sevilla beating Liverpool it in the UEFA cup final or fanta scruff. Crystal Palace and Suarez crying, Stevie G slipping. Only 5 posts in, still time.
If it was a thread about bad things in football in the last 5 years we’d be here all day. I believe the RS would take up 99% of the posts. Horrors.

Beating city 4-0 was decent.

Lukaku breaking records was fun, while it lasted.

Delboys naughty crosses and through balls.

Kones perfect hat trick ft Lukakus mad ting.

Goodison realising they didn't know how to make cappuccinos and therefore abandoning them altogether.

Winning away at Old Trafford with Oviedos goal, then going away to the emirates on the Sunday and watching us out play them especially first half and Dels goal near the end to equalise!

Burnley away when Eto'o was boss.

Fellaini against Man U when we won 1-0 and he had a better pass completion with his chest than Davies gets with his feet now.

Lukaku against Chelsea in the cup, I'd not long got back from being away with work and I was proper jet lagged that day. Was so close to not bothering with the game but I had the lads tickets in mine so had to go. Was worth being absolutely shattered for about a week after it for that 1st goal alone.

Baines 2 freekicks v West Ham.

Tim Howard aside, that season (15/16) for the most part we had a first XI that would not look out of place in a Champions League side back then - Coleman, Jagielka, Stones, Baines, Barry. McCarthy, Deulofeu, Mirallas, Barkley, Lukaku. But also squad depth was very poor, as you alluded to.

This season, we've just got ourselves around 20 or so first-teamers who look mid-lower PL table level, backed up by a dozen or so promising youngsters whose confidence has been drained out of them by being harshly dropped at various times by a succession of manager's who seemingly don't trust them.

Think you're wearing the blue tinted specs with this claim. An ageing Jagielka, Baines and Barry. An inconsistent Stones, Deulofeu and Barkley. McCarthy and Mirallas are nowhere near Champions League quality either.

Only Coleman and Lukaku for me. I can't really comment on whether Stones is of that quality now as I rarely watch Man City, I just know he wasn't back then and was prone to errors. Djimi Traore won a CL so it doesn't always mean someone is CL quality just because they've appeared in the CL too.

That Swansea away win just before Christmas 2013. I really thought we were gonna push towards the top 4.

Then we lost 3 days later home to Sunderland on Boxing Day. Merry Christmas.

Very true. Certainly not saying that 15/16 side was of a Juventus or Barcelona-type CL quality, was maybe going for a Basel, CSKA Moscow or Copenhagen-type CL level.

My point was, I don't think that Everton side would have been embarrassed in a CL group stage. The current Everton side would flunked easily though (as witnessed by our embarrassment in the Euro League group stage!).

The 2-3 away to West Ham. Baines puttting free kicks into both top corners from exactly the same place and Lukaku scoring the winner and getting knocked out in the process on his debut.
