Here's why I think we will finally have money to spend

I think Bill wants felli gone, he's said that none of the players have to be sold but said one has a release clause everyone knows about. I don't know why he had to mention the release clause but it sounded like he was trying to put felli in the shop window to generate some cash.

I agree i think he's hoping Manaco will come in as when they see a buy out clause they pretty much double it for fun

No, realism. There's no doubt Martinez might be accused of not being honourable. I had a lot of time for Moyes the manager - but he's gone down in my estimation by the way he manipulated this scenario on the QT.

I was not talking about the ethics and integrity of either Moyes or Martinez, but seriously, have a look at what you wrote again

We will have money to spend because Kenwright NOW has a man he can trust.. An honourable man who - yes he has walked or talked his way out of a job at Wigan - has replaced a dishonourable man who refused to commit.

I have put in bold the most crazy part of your statement. Think about it, and ask yourself " for all them years Moyes had no money to spend, or was forced to sell to buy was because Kenwright never trusted him?? "

Also, could you say Martinez is a dishonourable man because he never committed to the full length of his contract???

We will have money from sales, and probably no more. Nothing to suggest that we'll be doing business before the last week of the transfer window either, this is a board tactic rather than a managerial one.

Oh, and Rodwell will be back on loan. You heard it here first.

I believe this.

But I do feel Moyes went with it fairly willingly, he didn't even usually use his new signings immediately, bringing them in over the weeks or in the case of Baines, years (!)

If there was one preseason for this to change it is now with a new manager with a change of playing style, he may need some of his signings to be a key new part of the way we play, e.g. 3 CB's and he will surely want the longest time possible to work with them all on the new system.

Heard something specific sir, or a guess?

watching everton TV today it stated that bill .. "ive told david not to come for baines" .. makes me think he's been given the ok for felli

probably just using the most high profile rumour to illustrate point.. couldn't go through the entire squad saying they aren't for sale. the Fellaini to Man utd rumours haven't been taken as seriously as the Baines ones and I suppose he thinks that's the one that would upset most supporters. I think there is a really good chance there won't be sales until at least january so he can assess squad. the Fer money is obviously there and I would blindly guess Martinez has sweet talked another ten mill without sales, the Moyes contract money maybe. can't see him spending much more than this anyway. he hasn't in the past.

Of course he wants him gone.

His transfer fee is to pay for Rooney!

i cant see us having more money than the money we make from sales. Something about the way Bill said I'll give him a few quid said to me hes not getting much.

Kenwright couldnt exactly say "he'll be backed well" otherwise clubs will hold us to ransom, it makes a good change from the usual "we are skint" line

implied the opposite to me, if he was getting nothing or little then something along the lines of... we will look at the finances and see what we can do...or.... there are substantial funds but obviously we will be looking for value for money.

I guess your right, its not good idea to advertise your potential spending power.
However I think the only funds well spend is what we get in for Felliani if hes sold

exactly...15 million available I would guess and he has already stated they don't have to sell

If Bill was 'incandescent with rage' over Moyes' decision to leave, he seems to have got over it amazingly well.

He hasn't shut up singing his praises through the recent process of bringing in a replacement.

Kenwright has just suggested there will be funds available to Martinez. The temptation is to laugh of course.

BUT

Everyone knows we have typically made a loss of £5m a year, year in and year out over the last 5 or so years of the accounts. You can read quotes from Elstone and/or Kenwright on this.

Since the last published accounts we have, I think, cut the wage bill a bit, no Arteta, Cahill, Beckford, Bily, Yobo, Rodwell, Yak. Some big earners there. No Neville now as well. Yes there is now Gibson, Jelavic and Mirallas. But surely that all adds up to a cut wage bill.

Now for the biggy. The new TV deal is worth a gobsmacking £20m a year more than the last one. To every club. More still if you do well. There is naturally a lot of guesswork here but there is no way we are going into the future, with the playing staff as it stands, making a loss every year. The TV deal alone ought to turn us from a £5m loss to a £15m profit, or £15m a year available for transfer fees or wages.

It is the same for everyone of course. It already seems to me that clubs are out there busily spending. Everton will just have to be smarter than the others as we have been before. And we never have to return to the days of making a loss each season and being forced to sell a player a year. Not unless the board again chooses to operate in that way.

Feel free to discuss/pick holes/argue with me. Best way of learning is to argue with someone.

Cheers

And would you be surprised to see every clubs wage bill go up by the same amount or more, as the greedy players and agents all ask for their share?
