He's free to do what he wants we live in a free country.
He should however be seen as a money grabbing hypocrite with bigoted views rather than as some kind of hero which sadly a minority view him as.
Please tell us how his views are anymore bigoted than yours? He has his views on what the monarchy represents, what the poppy represents and peacefully and respectfully declines to fully be immersed in the culture of that celebratory/remembrance aspect, he allows others to be and (I assume) respects their choice to do so. He does not hate every single one of us.
If you were offered a job, that you enjoyed, in a country/city/town/village where you may not agree with every historical and current action would you feel you still had a right to earn money while living in said place, while not being a hypocrite? You don't need to sing the town anthem, you don't have to participate in the local parade, etc. nobody should think of you as being a hypocrite just because you live there and do not participate in every event or custom. You may hate your neighbours, are you a hypocrite for still living next to them.
For the sake of hypotheticals let us assume you are being paid well and have the means to move to another place fairly easily.
