Has Fellaini really got a £22m buyout clause in his contract ?

I usually remember outlandish comments, never thought i'd be asked to provide proof that Fellaini's 'clause' was discussed plenty before this week though !

I think Moyes would take no less than the 26mil in his release clause and even then I’m not completely sure Fellaini would go.

It's been a matter of conjecture since the day he signed his new deal.

The figure bandied around at the time was £26M.

The fact that it didn't make headlines in the Nationals doesn't mean it wasn't a matter of debate amongst Evertonians. It's only really this season that the media have woken up to Fellaini's talent, he was largely viewed as a big nuisance, all elbows & hair, until relatively recently. So now they're interested in him & want to place him at a 'bigger club' they've taken an interest in his contract etc.

Agree Mate, If the clause is true then Fellaini must have pushed this hard in the new contract, at least we have covered our backs, get the fee we paid for him and some extra back. To be honest even if the clause not true, the club would still have sold him for around 24 million anyway.

I'm sorry but this completely proves my point; the speculation has been limited to a few posts on Everton message boards, that have then been subsequently reported by the websites that host such message boards. What percentage of Everton fans do you think have read the 'media articles' that you cite above? Of those who did read them, what percentage dismissed it as unsubstantiated nonsense?

If this was all well discussed, and Evertonians had known about it for ages, then there wouldn't be a new 23 page thread in which many people are expressing surprise and dissatisfaction regarding this release clause. And the media wouldn't have been reporting it as a revelation, as they would have brought it up when discussing the comments Fellaini made on International duty.

I've never denied that a handful of Evertonians have discussed the possibility of there being such a release clause, in fact my argument centres upon the fact that's exactly what it has been limited to.

And please, I really hope that the search that was being referred to earlier on wasn't this one: http://www.grandoldteam.com/forum/search.php?searchid=1923448

Because 12 of those threads were created before Fellaini even signed a new contract, and the only threads to specifically discuss a Fellaini release clause are from THIS WEEK, as the latest reports from the media have caused a bit of stir, if anyone has noticed?

You've been here since October, and are telling numerous other members who have been here a lot longer than you that they're all wrong that it has been discussed plenty.

You're wrong, get over it ffs.

Chelsea are looking to take their summer spending to the £100m mark with a move for Marouane Fellaini, claim The Mirror. The report suggests that the Belgian beast could be available for £20m, although with 4 years left on his contract and his value to Everton almost incalculable, it's unthinkable that the 24-year-old would be sold for less than £25m unless Fellaini himself pushed for a move.
The ex-Standard Liege man is thought to have a £24m release clause in the new deal he signed last autumn.

i know people will say its just Mark Lawreson talking sh#t.......but....

he was on irish radio earlier praising felli.....but then mentioned rumours that were circulating in the media that Fellaini has a buy-out clause in his new contract, which isn't much above the fee we paid for him, and a london club was preparing to offer that amount....

http://www.evertonfc.com/forum/discussion/10840/fellaini.....possible-bad-news...

Remember, Fellaini just signed a new five-year contract less than a year ago, and the club is trying to maintain some sort of goodwill with the fans. It should also be noted that the contract apparently has a £24 million release clause included.

A thread from June discussing his possible clause:

http://www.grandoldteam.com/forum/threads/45122-Fallaini-and-Baines-transfer-funds]

More discussion of his clause from August:

http://www.grandoldteam.com/forum/threads/48100-Would-you-sell-Felliani-for-%C2%A330million?p=1436591&highlight=clause#post1436591

Apparently a presenter on Talksport mentioned a clause back in August too:

Adrian Durham on talksport said that his buyout clause is 24m when he signed his new contract , apparently if any teams in the CL make a bid of that amount he is allowed to talk to them.

Do i have to keep going ?
