2025/26 Harrison Armstrong

This is exactly why he needs to stay with them the full season. He will have ups and downs with his form, and needs to learn to ride it out or grind it out....not just bring him back when he has a good spell.

These loans are as much about the "real" feel nature of mens football and how ruthless it is to get points, and its not all set up for these pampered Cat 1 academy kids to pass pass pass and the result means nothing like U18/U21 footy.

Leave him with them, and don't even consider his return this season. Maybe even next season on loan depending on how he comes back, and looks next to any recruitment.

18/19 is very very young to play center mid in the prem.

At last some common sense. Lad is miles away from the standard we need and should be allowed to develop at his own pace.

Best of both worlds honestly given how likely it is he goes back at the end of the month. Only one losing out is Preston and at least for them it's just the one month

He’ll only be going back if we sign at least one midfielder. If I were Preston I wouldn’t be banking on that.

Given our bench on Tuesday and January fixtures think this was a no brainer.

Could arguably slow his development or alternatively speed it up if he gets a chance and takes it.

Either way, we need the body and he's available.
I agree amigo . I'm sure that I read that he might only be coming back to us for a month and that he will return to Preston at the end of Jan.
That seems sensible. Gives us cover until Gana and KDH return and then allows him to continue his development.

I dont think so mate. We're going to get injuries, suspensions etc. Look at the bench, we've got players on it who won't be getting minutes.

Let's take Sunday against Brentford, can you imagine we're 3-0 up with 20 to play and can rest Garner and Tim and bring on Armstrong and Rohl (as an example). Makes a huge difference as he wouldn't just be a number, he would be giving fresh legs to help see games out and getting PL experience in high pressured environments.
But how often are we 3 up? Like, he has a massive future with us, I’m just concerned that in a few games time we have numbers back again and then have 6 players ahead of him in the midfield again. (Garner, gana, Tim, Rohl, KDH, Alcaraz) which is where we were at the summer when it was deemed he wouldn’t get enough minutes.

Just don’t want him to end up sitting on our bench barely getting a sniff after the next 4 games which I doubt he starts in. (Maybe starts vs Sunderland in the cup).

At the end of the day we’ve currently got a fairly major availability crisis and the sensible decision is to bring him back. In our last game there were basically 2 players on the bench with a realistic chance of getting on and one of those the manager said wasn’t really fit enough but it was a needs must situation. We can’t really afford to have another viable option playing for someone else while we’re in that position, it would be daft.

….little surprised, my immediate thinking is KDH injury is a bad one, also maybe Keane out for a while and the plan is to use Rohl at RB.
Don’t think it’s anything to do with KDH, the squad is as stretched as it can get so he’s coming back as a body that Moyes will actually use. Will be interesting though if we get to the end of the month and he’s been playing regularly enough to stay here.

I don't think so, seemed pretty clear the club only wanted to recall him if it was absolutely necessary. When we have a senior midfield of Garner, Gana, KDH, Iroegbunam, Rohl and Alcatraz - as we likely will be the end of the month - I don't think there'll be much hesitation about sending him back unleeess he looks absolutely insane and is somehow pushing for a starting spot amongst that. Which feels unlikely

He could easily leapfrog Tim, Rohl and Alcaraz in the pecking order if he performs, then personally I think we should be starting to phase Gana out because of his age, so there’s a very realistic possibility he could cement himself in the first team. The only reason he should go back on loan to the Championship is if he shows himself to be out of his depth in the Premier League.

Moyes wont be moving Tim out.

Time will tell, well, more likely this thread will tell the rights and wrongs of the whole Armstrong saga.
