The thing is if he came back he wont start this wkend, he wont play end of jan, so that's 4 games to do something. Can't see a start in that period.
That takes a month out of playing time..

If Preston do really well in that month, he has to earn his place back..

So what - he is our player match fit ready to start if Dwigt gets chosen he stands a good chance of starting!

we are on verge of europe and we have 3 midfielders, one of which is massively injury prone and the other is possibly likely to end up needed in another position with patterson and mykolenkos penchant for a muscle iniury

also a ‘month off’ at 18 and being in the thick of the squad thats pushing for europe is a very good learning experience

and i gueantee he gets minutes in the next 3 games if hes available

There's an extra year club option on Garner's contract apparently, Joe, so that's not quite as urgent as it looks on the surface.

I’m sure a journalist in the post match said garner was out of contract in the summer, maybe I heard it wrong, but was surprised Moyes didn’t put him right

Needed to have as an option till let players come back or are fit again - Garner is the worry as no contract signed as yet ?
It would leave a massive gap in our midfield in the future....
