"There is a forgotten, nay almost forbidden word,
which means more to me than any other.
That word is ENGLAND." - Sir Winston Churchill

Happy St George's Day to all who celebrate it.

Why is a Turkish person an english saint anyway?

Or a Roman person, depending on which story you choose to believe. He was chosen as a symbol of values which were deemed to reflect English culture a long time ago, and his origin is not really relevant. Personally I think he was from Kirkby, but got lost when his wife sent him out for a chippy lunch and a packet of woodbines.

I was always under the impression he was born in Nicomedia (Sp.?) which is modern day Turkey and i believe was in the Roman Empire. Is there no English kings worthy of the honour?

I see that the English were up with the joys of spring, ready to celebrate and share being English today then.

In truth: You didnt know, you're not really arsed and you just like to moan about them bloody foreign PC types stopping you celebrating it.

Welsh, Scottish and the Irish do it better and it hurts.
