Gym thread

I think all the old gym threads are locked so starting a new one.

How's it all going in the gym people? All getting hench for the summer?

I joined a new gym last year, semi-personal training. It's expensive but good. Got myself in good shape and have managed not to injure myself since I've been there.

Do we have any creatine takers here? I tried it a few weeks ago, just a small dose, but felt a bit weird afterwards, like brain foggy and dizzy. Anyone else had that before?

I do my gymming in the yard currently mostly, got a set of dumbbells and a bench that I use occasionally when not knackered. Feel stronger, appear the same, FFS.

I take creatine but it's good to take it together with a good workout (before/during/after all work from my experience), but I've never experienced dizziness here mate, soz can't help.

Obligatory HESSS HESSS @chicoazul

Cheers mate, yeah I've read and it doesn't seem to be a creatine side effect so might just be coincidence. Will probably leave it a few weeks then try it again.

Hi man, creatine addict here. As you’ve read it’s not a common side effect so a) keep an eye on other life style/consumption habits and) perhaps lower the dosage for a week or two and see if it makes any difference.

On the contrary it should give you a nice focus, and extra kick in the gym and a good post gym pump HESSSSSSSSSSSZZZZZZSSSSSSSS. Obvs plenty of water with it, when training and in general overall really.

It’s a good supplement and lots of stuff coming out recently of other benefits such as longevity etc. But each to their own, a black coffee might be someone else’s pre gym kick - personally do both because HEZZZZZZ HEZZZZZ HESS I like to hit that cold metal hard and let gravity know it belongs to me.

I've been taking creatine for a couple of months and suffered with a dizziness incident a couple of nights ago. Went to the docs and she said it probably wasn't creatine related (low blood pressure in my case). Still going to give it a rest for a month or so until I've had some tests.

On the gym front, bought a bench and some adjustable dumbbells so I can train at home. Game changer.

Also set myself a pull-up challenge for the summer.

Only the big compound stuff for me now, squats, deadlifts, bench, various types of row. I hit the weights every other day and go for walks for weight management. Achieved a few new PB's last year at age 48 but just turned 49 and finding it tricky to even maintain those levels now - facing up to the fact that the downhill may have started 🤢

Gym 7 days per week. Push, pull, push, pull, forever and ever, legs sprinkled in on push. 7mg of creatine per day. No idea how my body manages it and I know it's super unhealthy but it's good for my brain to be there. Still kept almost all of my old fat strength, some of my back PB's are impressive.

YE DEFYING GRAVITY AGAIN LAD?

…..stopped going during Covid, only ever did a nice easy 5km in 30m on treadmill 3 times per week never touched weights in my life, even when I played footy.

I’m 70 this year and a few heart issues have recently been found but I’ll stay active even if it doesn’t involve gym.
