Not really up to me is it mate?

I was just answering who I'd prefer over Mata or Siggy (Another plus for Sigurdsson is I can call him "Siggy")
I'm aware that you're not our manager mate. But as you think he'd be a good signing, I'm just interested in how you think he would fit in?

All that this actually means is that they have slightly better or equal players in that position, Ozil and Hazard for example.

Doesn't make him not good enough.

Then you have to factor in it is a team game and how those players fit into that team and what they offer to the make up of the side.

Your focussing of individuals doesn't seem to factor in any of this, which is quite bizarre for somebody who portrays themselves as knowing a bit about the game.

The playmaker IS an individual, its the position which determines how the team play.

Would he make our other players look better, perhaps but i dont see him as being good enough to push barkley back....would be a rotation player.

Funny you should mention mate, for something completely different ive had to compare his stats against Dele Ali, Sigurdsson comes out on top.

Delle Alli is surrounded by top players like Eriksson etc whilst at Swansea i imagine everything goes through him which could well pad his stats....

Isn't that the point of a playmaker to send everything through him? He'd be even more productive with better players around him.

Sure but whose to say he hasnt found his level?

Just musing about it really...cant see him coming with swansea having a new investor.

I quite like Calhanoglu (not just for his free kicks) and Bernardo Silva who would be perfect with Carvalho.

Whilst I'd agree those two are more talented than Sigurdsson the new boss has to hit the ground running so think he'd choose PL experience over potential every day of the week there.

I suppose the counter arguement is though that playing with better quality players enables you to have more oppurtunites and space. Siggy only played in no 10 from Monks sacking onwards as well. Funnily Ayew at Swansea was ahead of both Alli and Sigurdsson and on a par with Eriksen. When you actually crunch the numbers its surprising reading.

Players who had better numbers then Siggy were Mahrez, Ozil, Sanchez, Payet, Ayew, Arnautovic and Eriksen. In the second half of the season when he was no 10, Sigurdsson has the best overall numbers.

Would you have said the same prior to last season? That was my point.

Maybe not, but Mahrez was pretty much a newcomer to the league at that point, once he found his feet we saw how good he is. Sigurdsson imo has been the same for about 5 years
