Guardiola to be found out in the premier league

His style has always been vulnerable to teams who attack quick on the counter, and can defend well. If memory serves, he got destroyed at Barca by a quick Bayern team losing heavily in the latter stages, and then when at Bayern lost in the same manner to Real at a similar stage of the Champions League.

Even Martinez beat them

Lyon were always going to be a tough game for his style, probably why he made so many changes to it and didn't trust himself. He's perhaps lucky because Bayern are the epitome of the style to beat a Pep side. Well organised and full of strength, power and pace, it's likely they'd have destroyed this City side, similar to how they beat Barca.

With them and utd getting beat, it just shows how poor the prem is. Hopefully anyway so that the rs won't have everything their own way next season. Providing both City and utd strengthen

Guardiolas biggest downfall is his ego, its not enough to win he has to be seen to win in some amazing, unexpected, innovative way - hence the weird formation changes and square pegs in round holes. Exact same reason he has to give it the big coaching masterclass complete with wild gesticulating whenever the cameras are in him, has to make it about himself.

I'm sure UEFA would sort that out. No one plays on European nights so there's plenty to choose from.

so let me get this straight; assuming Carlo gets things moving and we get into Europe over the next Few years, you’re in favour of having games at neutral venues rather than Goodson / BMD??

don’t get the logic, it’s a great solution during Covid but what take European nights away from teams

Yep. I'd rather have a better chance of winning the game than battling over two legs.

And I'm pretty sure statically whoever gets the 2nd return leg at home is usually the team that goes through.

If you beat the press abolutely. By pressing so high up they leave gaps in behind...it’s being good enough to expose it. Norwich beating city this season, they did exactly that. Quick passes and they were in.

Pep’s teams all have a soft underbelly as we know.

That Bayern semi you are referring to...Robben, Ribery, Muller and co. ripped through them. Salah, Mané and Firmino have done likewise against his city team. Teams that are brave enough (and good enough) to counter quickly, and in numbers (so taking risks) will get their reward. Problem is too many teams either just aren’t good enough or too cowardly to do this. They sit in, two banks of four, and hope to God they don’t get hammered.

You’re right it does, but also reflects the fact that teams that top group play away first, so you would expect that stat.

I think in a world post Covid with fans back in grounds you’re Mad no European games at home would be a tragedy and short sighted, never might a dent in the business model of new stadium development, whether BMD, spurs etc

He can never just keep faith with the team that gets him to the business end.

There's always got to be some kind of tactical or personnel switch that ends up costing them.
