Pass one earlier, say I hope he doesn't go on a grow a 'tache as suggested in the EFC v Hull programme. That would be unbearable.

I trust that I don't have to be the barometer on this site of what is racially funny, or crosses the line? Taken out of the context of footie it maybe seen as some sort of crass racism. But all footie fans know the context that this is done in (we remember Graham Sourness, Keegan et al), which is why when I see five year old Everton fans with Felli-fro's I don't feel offended.[/quote]

you have no right to, not aimed at you, not malicious, an example of what i was saying about everyone taking offence.......not that you have.

i did write a song about a 'tache.

Fair enough BT, that's a reasonable point. I dont want to get all pc, but I'd suggest that if the Sun had a picture portraying the hair of a man of Arab-descent as a busby atop a Palace Guard's head there'd be [Poor language removed] to pay...probably led by the muesli eating mealy-mouthed Guardian.

Davek, this is the third time I've almost agreed with you this week. And no, i haven't posted the others as yet, or you'll get me carrying "No to Kirkby" banners yet:lol::lol::lol:

I think that Political Correctness is a noble and worthwhile project as it challenges our comy cultural assumptions around what is good bad, right and wrong. <I realise that I am going off topic here, but bare with me mods>(y)(y)

It becomes ridiculous when idiots do things like saying we shouldn't use Christmas in this or that because it may offend the poor little ethnic flowers. Tripe.

That gets my goat big time, but I won't continue as this takes it into an Ale House thread which already exists. So, in a way I agree with your sentiment, but I hope that people understand that as well as my ethnicity, I am a football fan and I do understand that football can sometimes throw up oddities.

Ethnic minorities can laugh at themselves.

As for the sun, nothing is beyond that morally bankrupt rag.

I didnt notice anything even remotely racist about those pics.

There was a pic in the Mirror the other day of a dog with a Fellaini afro, and just like those pics on the Guardian site it was just referencing his hairstyle not his race.

Unless i missed soemthing?

What Davek* was essentially saying was, take out this out of the context of football, and then it becomes decidely dodgy (no, not the Mo-fro, the pictures).

Its about undertones and sensing the unease.

*Obviously Davek can speak for himself, so I am attempting to summarise what he would have said.
