Guard of honour

It's a mark of respect any team should give to the champions. No-one is suggesting the fans have to applaud them or the players need to lie down for them (as if they need any encouragement to do that). As horrible as it would be to see, the team should give the guard of honour. Unfortunately, it's simply the right thing to do.

You give them the guard of honour because that’s the respect they deserve. You don’t do it and you look like utterly small time bitter knobheads. It’s not the end of the world, nothing’s going to happen unless you live your life on social media.
Put me down for a pint of bitter mate

I will be disgusted and furious if the club do this. We have been respectful about Hillsborough on at least 4000 occasions. They were respectful about Rhys Jones. But they are still the club that is responsible for denying our greatest team the opportunity to compete in European competitions, and it did have a massively negative impact on our club.

This desire to be the most friendliest club on the planet needs to stop! It doesn't help us, not when it comes to competing at football!

Also, long before we were marketed as the friendliest club in the world (as a defence mechanism to losing all the time), I do believe that there was an occasion when we literally refused to hand over the league trophy to them in order to delay their league celebrations when they won the league the year after we had won it? I could be wrong, but I'm sure I read that somewhere?

The point is that we are adversaries, not bum chums. So we should act like adversaries, and not like a battered wife that accepts domestic violence!

I think it's the embarrassment factor more then anything.

If i was an Everton player I'd be hoping with all my might that the guard of honour occurs.

Because the Everton player that stands in the guard of honour and turns his back will automatically become a hero.

It's the opportunity of a lifetime. Like Sheedy flicking the v's at the kop.

There's no denying it would be hugely embarrassing, but better that than to be petty and come down to their level. Hopefully the players will feel embarrassed, too, although they coped well enough with the shame of losing to their children in the cup derby.

Just looked it up.

Our win in 1962/63 followed by their win in 63/64. Before we became their bitches.

You all need to rise above this childish attitude you’re showing, it’s mucho bittero. If they win the league and come to us as champions then it’s only right that we show them the respect they deserve for doing so.
Nope they showed us no respect after we got banned from Europe because of Hysel, infact they took the piss with their Steaua Bucharest banners, hilsbrough Memorial aside we should not do anything for them. Doing a guard of honour is something that will be used by them for years to take the piss they'll have banners made depicting it and we'll have to look at for years to come.. under no circumstances do anything for that club nothing but a skid mark on the underpants of life. If I were to try and express exactly how I feel about that potential situation the swear filter would malfunction and the ban hammer would come down hard..
