Browsing this earlier, the gist was that we give more of a toss about it, the rivalry, than they do.

No idea if true, having never spoken to a German about football.

Only last week I enlisted the support of a German developer for here. In the first conversation he took the piss on football and then signed off all emails "World Football Champions"

Worked with plenty of Germans over the years - they always make jokes over football.

English "care" more about it. My overall point though was in response to belittling fans happy Germany are out - its OK to have a rivalry. In this day a dislike of something or smugness is often belittled - like celebrating Liverpool losing a final. All part of football and rivalry.

We do. World Champions dont care (so much) about sides that go out to Iceland. Theres no game in that is there?

Im sure you subscribe to the kopite school of thought that Man Utd are Liverpools rival and we're an irrelavance because we dont compete.

Just because youre a football hipster who likes Germany - it doesnt mean theres no England/Germany football rivalry.

The Merseyside Rivalry is completely different

England and Germany don't share a City

A better comparison for the England Vs Germany "Rivalry" would be something like Bolton Vs Man United

If anything, it's England being the Kopites

Which is in incredible poor taste.

It's because a well established football rivalry between the two exists.

And as I said;

Rivalry is OK...

You dispute the rivalry/insist it doesn't exist because Germany are so far superior, but it's the same ideology kopites use to say Everton aren't a rival. That's not me saying you're a kopite; that's me using an example to illustrate the point.
