You can call in replacements after it’s started? Even with an inflated squad? Seems like injuries are why you have 3 keepers in the first place.

Goalkeepers are generally outside of rules such as this, like clubs can sign emergency keepers outside of the transfer window. Due to it being a very specialised position the rules are relaxed, I think that would be true, unless the Covid rules are allowing replacements for all positions?

Apparently it's just goalkeepers who can be replaced for Covid reasons once the tournament has started. I thought I'd heard there was special Covid dispensation, but there isn't after a team plays their first match (i.e. where every team is at now).

As long as a squad has at least 13 fit players, the match has to go ahead. If they have fewer than that available, they get 48 hours to reschedule the match. If they can't make it in that window, they forfeit the match 3-0.

Historically, how come England have always performed much better in World Cups than Euros? Is there any reason for this?

They usually come up against good teams earlier in the euros because there have traditionally been less teams in it.,

We self destruct usually in Euros, since that favourably glorious run in 96 our form has looked as follows

2000 - knocked out in the groups losing 2 of the 3 games after being ahead in them

2004 - controversial knockout on pens in the quarters

2008 - didn’t qualify after losing crucial final qualifier

2012 - beaten on pens in quarters by the team that got hammered in the final

2016 - embarrassed by the lowest ranked nation in the tournament in the last 16

Ott as per usual.
If I'm honest he'd have struggled to make my squad never mind the stating XI.

Thought he had a very good game against Croatia but that was as good as you'll get from him. Somebody at the very top of his game who is unlikely to produce a performance as good as that again. The same press will be all over him again for opposite reasons then

Before 96 our record was worse too.
