Group B: England, Iran, USA, Wales

I still stand by that on the talent of the players there is no reason the US shouldn't make it out of the group here. I also just don't think they're going to do it. Which should lead to a change in management, but probably won't.

Fully confident that England and USA make it out the group.

Also certain that it’ll be a very tight group, and if there’s a “big” win, it will be 2-0 at maximum.

I’ll die on that hill.

Think England win the group on 7. USA second on 6. Wales 2. Iran 1.

If, Joe Allen is fit for the first game against USA. Wales win.

After that it’s all open.

Wales v Iran, 1pm kick off, in the heat, not great for us and probably favours them.

Wales v England, don’t know who the ref is, but he’s probably already completely off his box and celebrating his bung, to make sure that the Prince of Wales’ England Villa team go through.

I believe it'll be tight as well but I'm not sure that suits that US. Can see us going draw loss and then draw in a game where winning gets us through.

I think for me, Wales England is a 1-1 draw.

I worry most for England in the game against Iran. It’s 33c, it’s a side England onow thing about. It’s a side who’s out of form.

Think wales group swings on the USA game as you said. There’s zero pressure, and I hope you do well, but still feel USA will edge the second place.

Deffo see Wales winning v USA, high on the emotion of their first modern day participation.

There’s no motivation required for this one.

If Wales don’t win v USA, I don’t reckon we are winning any of the others.

Again, as I said to Haydn, I think it’ll be a tight group.

Think Iran will be the curveball in the group, as the climate suits them. They’ve got nothing to lose, but a bit like SA 2010, they’re effectively representing the Middle East. It’ll be like their own finals.

If you come through Iran and Wales unbeaten then you probably stand a good chance of going through.

Not sure it is that cut and dry regarding Allen. I'm thinking perhaps it will mirror something like the Switzerland game in Baku in 21 as the nerves set in for the USA and Wales get a late equaliser.

I’m out here now, granted in Muscat rather than Doha. That’s only up the road ‘tho.

It is ridiculously hot. I landed at 07:30 and thought, yeah that’s not bad.

By lunchtime, playing a game would have been the last thing on my mind. 10pm not much better.

It’s not just hot, it’s get me out of here baking.

People underestimate the climate advantage for the US I think. Most of our guys will have grown up playing in these types of temps through the summer. Of course all our games are after nightfall so maybe not that helpful but it definitely feels like European teams have caught a bit of a tough card here.

This is the problem that even the 7pm kick offs are still going to favour teams that play in warm climates. I expect you will get used to the heat in a few days, usually when you go on your summer hols the temperature difference is 10-15C max, today it would have been more getting on for 30C! I can well imagine that being rough until you acclimatise.

Going back will be a bit of a shock too, you'll think the plane landed in Siberia by accident.

That shouldn't matter. The US have the players for it not to matter. But we don't play well enough often enough and those small margins might hurt.

That said we have one player who has played a World Cup match before so we figure to be amped up as well.

I just replied to you on the other thread Haydn.

It looks insane. Oman is bucket list for me. I’m immensely jealous. But if you’ve not got any day games you could well have pulled a short straw there!

Hope your accom isn’t like my friends
