Greek Financial Crisis

It was actually @orchard and @magicjuan Dave, but as you were. If you want to suggest things are lies before they've even materialised then go right ahead.
I'm not prejudging anything; I'm questioning your appeal to the authority of Malmstrom to be a reasonable guide to any potential changes...and you cant address that so decide to deflect.

How much VAT has been put on the humble pie the 'left wing' government have signed up to shove down your throats?
The islands that basically rely on tourism pay 8% VAT on food and drink.......... this will now rise to 23%.Which will obviously push prices up in bars restaurants etc............. which in return will cripple the tourist industry. Also with shipping taxes going up ...... it will make goods coming to the islands more expensive.BRILLIANT JUST PHUCKIN BRILLIANT.

You fellas are great. Originally the rationale for TTIP causing the sky to fall in was that the negotiations were done in secret so they must have lots to hide. Then the text from the negotiations is made public and the sky is still falling in because the negotiators are dodgy stooges who can't be trusted not to smear every page with lies.

It's brilliant lol

I don't think they are lying, and have no reason to do so. If you do, then I'm sure you'll find plenty of crackpots to support your theory.

Haha, it's hardly just 'us fellas', there are millions in Europe against this re-packaged attempt.
Why do you think it's a good idea Bruce ?

Is the full tax rate restricted to the larger islands? Seem to remember something like this. Nevertheless, to accept any increase was madness and just shows how Tsipras saw his own arse in those crunch talks.

He'll be seen as the Chamberlain of Greek politics in time.

She's party to the negotiations so has as good an authority as anyone on the matter of the negotiations I would have thought. If you believe the text that is published by the EU on their website is false then maybe go through it and say which bits you think they're lying about and on what basis you're doing so.

Think it's a bit hazey on which islands (as is everything at the moment) however as I understand it .... everyone will pay the same VAT.

To be honest I'm not sure many of those millions have read through the text of the negotiations, and many of the myths surrounding the treaty are wholly illogical and I'm not sure why any government would vote them through (if they were as the myths suggested rather than something much more benign).

As for whether I think it's a good idea, I think free trade is always a good idea, so reducing or removing barriers to that is a positive thing. I don't believe the myths that this will see the privatisation of the NHS or that a company can sue a state for not buying its services are going to happen whatsoever.

If she's party to the negotiations that merely compromises her, surely?

Does she sound to you like an honest broker or someone pushing for it? I know what i think.

Basically what you've done, by way of a parallel, is appealed to the authority of Wolfgang Schauble on the likely positive outcome of Greek reforms for the Greek people.

If you're seriously defending TTIP then it's incumbent upon you to provide some credible source.

Goodness Dave, I'm 99% certain that she didn't write the 'myths' document that she provided the forward to any more than she personally penned the negotiation notes that have been published on the EU website. I'm sure you're wise enough about how these things work to know that people of a certain seniority seldom write the things that they are even tangentially linked with.

Nevertheless, I would imagine that her office/team are pretty well placed to say what is going on in those negotiations. Being as no one else is there, I fail to see how their version of events can even begin to be disputed. I really have things to do though so if you want to carry on your train of thought, which I'm sure you do, knock yourself out and enjoy the rest of your Friday :)

Thanks Bruce, and let me just say before you go: you've eased all our concerns about the future in your last posts on this thread by providing impeccably neutral sources.

Probably worth posting this again

a noted forward by the EU trade commissioner Cecilia Malmstrom, a Swede so a noted capitalist pig dog.

To be honest, the political bias of participants isn't usually a good indicator of their worth. Those who uphold the values and intent of the EU, tend to place them ahead of party allegiance and even further ahead of representation. They support the core principles of the European club.

Using cake machines is a poor example, though food safety forgot to mention codex alimentarius, a huge part of it that outlaws herbal medicines and calls for licensing of stuff you buy in holland and barrett :)

That piece reminded me of the guff sent out to sell us the dream of destination Kirkby

It's a shame the EU ruling party (Christian Democratic Union of Germany) doesn't.

The EU single currency is a precursor to a single EU government.. Which inturn is a precursor to a single world currency and government..

*dons tin foil hat*
The world is run by the banks. America is run by the Federal Reserve and America's power in the world comes from the dollar and the EU is trying to do the same. China and Russia and others will probably have to enter into some sort of currency union as well. Whoever wins the currency wars will rule the world muhahahahahahahhahaha.
