Greek Financial Crisis

Blimey, that's one hell of an inaccurate statement !

Not sure that's accurate mate. I appreciate the sentiment behind what you're saying, but default and returning to the Drachma isn't something which the majority of Greeks actually want.

Well not all of them, but you have facts on the numbers Woolly.

Went to skiathos last year locals were very vocal about there dislike for the germans ,
few times in spain as well heard it, shame really as I find germans a decent bunch as a whole .

Roydo, my wife and I have very close German friends who live in Nurnberg. In fact he was a n MP in the Bavarian state parliament, one has to appreciate the dichotomy of views and feelings in all societies.

Really it's an impossible situation but with this proposal I don't see how it will actually help them to get out of the hole. Instead, it looks like it would prolong and, frankly, worsen their position.

Well, as you're talking complete bollocks my fellow wool, lets revisit your original statement

The Germans stopped going to Greece for holidays years ago.

From http://www.theguardian.com/world/2015/jun/21/german-tourists-greece-thessaloniki ( talking about 2014 )

Last year, record numbers of tourist flocked to Greece, including a record 2.5 million Germans; there was a 17% increase of Germans arriving on package holidays.

and more recentlly from http://www.independent.co.uk/news/w...other-nationalities-steer-clear-10379055.html

Greece continues to be very popular with Germans. Package tourists are sticking with their travel plans even after the referendum … and are not cancelling their reservations,” the travel association said. “Germans do not seem to be affected at all by the avalanche of libellous headlines about the current Greek financial turmoil. Greece this summer is again among the most popular destinations for them.

Now, I might be wrong, but I think you set off with misconceptions in your head which you then proceed to type out. While you believe what you're typing is true, that doesn't really excuse you from doing a little bit of checking of what you're saying.

So, a few questions for you :-

When where you last actually in Greece ?

Do you know anyone that's currently working there in the tourist areas who would be able to give you first hand information on tourist numbers and the countries they come from ?

... or ...

Are you just making it up as you go along to reinforce your own prejudices ?

Greece has many, many problems, some of them of their own making and some of them due to political pressure from Germany and Finland. On the Dodecanese, things aren't helped by illegal immigrants coming into Kos ( we were on Leros, a couple of islands down the chain the other day and saw 40 or 50 illegals being processed in the local police station on Agia Marina ) so I'm not sure you really have a clue.

Course, I could be wrong and you could be terribly well informed, but my gut reaction is that you're clueless.

To be fair, I would add that there's no love for the Germans in Greece, but, for whatever reason, unlike the Italians, the Germans have never really been forgiven in Greece for historical events.

Though possibly more painful in the short term, the Greeks should reject the deal and default rather than pursue this plan which will lower the GDP, increase the debt, and strip assets. Feel very badly for those in Greece
They should have done it 5 years ago. Now the elite have pinned the bill on the German tax payer so it has become even more tricky politically.

But yea the longer they wait the worse it will be for all.

They will once their pensions and their deposits start getting a haircut. At that point they may as well return to the Drachma.

B'stards.....because of the new deal, my offer of £40 for Rhodes has been kicked back and they now want £45........some tricky negotiations to take place here like............
