Greatest Everton Striker

Agree that Lineker isn't a legend. But I wouldn't call him a mercenary either. The deal was done pretty much behind his back.

Striker legend status in my lifetime:

Latchford
Sharpey
Big Dunc

That is it, as far as I can remember.

Yak might get onto the list in a few years. It depends whether he becomes Everton or not.

b)(y)same for me,i was a kid when my dad took me to see the blues and bob latchford was my hero and then sharpy, especially that volley at anfield.
big dunc for his passion and you knew if he came off the bench the stadium would erupt and he gave us a boost.if only he wasn't injured so much.
gary lineker for that 1 season we had him was special and if only we'd have kept him.

the yak's a good one for me too and i hope he stays injury free and i'm sure he'll score loads,he's got a nice persona and is a joy to watch him when he scores and does the dove and the crowd sings feed the yak.:)

gary linekar for me. Even that one season was amazing. Love that goal he scored where he took it aside with his left foot and then then smashed it first time! Haven't seen any striker do that eversince!

Big Beardy BoB Latchford......Oh the memories of him goal-hanging
And the smells of thousands of sweaty hairy arsed blues all cramped together in the Gwladys street, and goin mental when Big Bob headed one in from 3 yards off a dave thomas cross...aah happy days

In my lifetime Bob Latchford was great, but Sharpy edges it for me, some of his goals sent me into a frenzy through the 80's.

Although Dixie truly is legend, I personally can't relate to him as I never saw him play in the flesh, never got that tingle down my spine when you saw him with the ball at his feet in the opposition 18 yard box, (6 yard box for Bob Latchford)and never personally went mental when he scored. That is why I've opted for fat Bob....

Now if you asked my Dad the same question...he would have said Joe Royle

If you asked my grandad then he would have said Dixie Dean

Many years from now, when i'm paying £12 for a light ale in some far away tavern and a bag of similar priced Scampy fries I may be thinking of EFCs greatest forwards, and I'm pretty certain Yakubu wont feature at any point, sure he's big, robust and packs a punch but is more akin to Henry Cooper than Mike Tyson.

For what's its worth, now at this time, off the top of my noggin I put forth five Everton great forwards, Latchford, Hickson, Sharp, Dean, Lawton.

Someone once said the only time Latchford ever moved you knew it was half time, but still a class striker before moving to Swansea.
