They drew 12 league games though mate. It’s a great achievement, but they won fewer games that season than this Liverpool side have right now, in February, to put it into context.
Just my opinion, I think the league was strong back then and for me that’s the best club achievement I’ve seen in England. People are of course welcome to disagree

Points system was something like this:

5 points European Cup
4 points League Winners
3 points Any other European trophy
2 points FA Cup

Also points given for League Cup and being runners up.

I know Carragher mentioned the european ban, but this list is so unfair given we weren’t able to actually compete in Europe during our golden period. They really should have made this a domestic only thing.

As much as it pains me, just look at quality of that liverpool side kendall caught and overhauled. If their fanbase wasn't such a pack of murderers they'd be higher. Enjoyed the show though on mnf, only minor gripe is they didn't mention a single player from the everton team

It's certainly a special achievement but when it is packed with draws I think a real argument exists that other teams are better. I think the same goes for the Juve side that went unbeaten at some point in this streak of titles they're on. That team also had a crap ton of draws, and as special as unbeaten is, I'd say that team isn't as good as two or three other ones they've had during this run.

It's really hard to compare across the changing landscape of the sport but in just that decade I think you could easily say that United from 07-09 and Chelsea under Mourinho were better sides than 03-05 Arsenal despite the unbeaten season. God help us if the RS can get through this year without losing though, because they are not overflowing with draws obviously.

81 point haul drawing 12 games.

United 07-08, Chelsea 04-05, City centurions are better.

They are called the invincibles, so obviously lost none. As you say, they drew 12, leaving 26 wins (at 3 points each = 78 points). By my reckoning thats 90 points, not 81. Not a bad points tally for champions at all.

I take the point about the number of draws though, and completely agree. Fabulous achievement but difficult to put them in the same category as these City and Liverpool sides who have been winning machines over the last couple of years.

Putting it out there, the Paisley and Fagan RS teams in their primes beat both City and Klopp’s current side, hell Dalglish’s late 80’s side alone beats Salah and co. Actually most of those great sides of the 60s, 70s and 80s beat most of the current day teams

They'd need time to adapt to the pace of the modern game first

Most of those great classic sides would be utterly befuddled by how quick the Premier League is these days. The level of fitness required is immense

Plus, they wouldn't be allowed to tackle like they could in their day either, so they'd need to adapt to that as well

It's why inter-generational dream matches sadly don't really work, because football is constantly changing and evolving
