GrandOldTeam - Changes

I only ever use my phone, and I can’t see any change from the usual layout.

Yeah, no change on a phone.

All I've done is make it the same as guests view the forum, and how most forums work by enabling the sidebar.

I took it out years ago because our server couldn't cope, it now can.

As I keep saying, I'm not sure myself on it yet and early feedback is a bit 'meh', we'd still be on ancient forum software from 10 years ago if I reacted to immediate feedback on every change.

It makes it easier to read I think but I dont like how it takes a second or so for the sidebar to load on each page load. Bit distracting.

tbh, I'm a bit 'meh' too.
Do we need a list of members?
If we have to have Ads...and we probably do, I'd rather have the ads between postings.
Shrugs

Yeah would need to change what is there.

Before putting that effort in though, I've just left the default options.

Just testing a few things mate.

People wont like it initially because it's change, but I wonder if we can make better use of the space and if so, what can we put there.

I noticed it obviously but surprised at the cryarse reaction to it. Naturally it means altering where you traditionally put your eyes when using the forum but it's something you'd adjust to rapidly and hardly site breaking.

It gives visibility to the competitions/merch stuff and therefore helps the site keep running, and all you lose is a few screen inches of often empty space.

If I had my druthers as is said, from a less cramped aesthetic point of view, Id move the border between content and Ads over a bit to the right and maybe go slightly smaller on the name box
But hey its your trainset

....I’ve been 30mins thinking i’d done something and needed to readjust the screen!!

i appreciate change often meets with initial negativity, but I’m not keen on the sidebar.

i can’t see what it adds and it detracts from threads such as Old Everton Pictures. Suggest you include the sidebar on each forum contents page but not on individual threads.

i’m not trying to be negative, just providing my feedback.

I did the same reloaded it three times then went to this thread lol
If the partition was a wee bit smaller perhaps ....
Also that's a classic dismissal employment line sorry your going you don't like change :)

Rolled it back, I still think our threads are a little wide - it's just we're all used to it.

If you look at kindles etc, they have a set width for reading/new lines.
