Look at the numbers in the squad though, Dave. We have at least two players to every position. 5 centre backs (including Duffy), 4 quality centre mids and 4 wingers, notably.

We only need another striker, in my opinion and a back up right back would be nice. Other than that I can't think of any part of the squad that urgently needs strengthening at this point (we can still add more in January), European football or not.

That's what I meant. We need to be adding others. Another two in those positions of the right quality and we're nudging closer to where we all felt we'd be.

I'm still not convinced on Robles though. And if Atsu is away for a long spell we're looking at Mirallas and McGeady to remain fit and free from suspension.

Ideally we cover those areas too.

I think Martinez is convinced on Robles though. Whether I agree with him is another matter. Can't bang the board for an actual managerial decision.

I'd give it a B- precisely we have stood still. We haven't sold one of our top talents, and we've secured Lukaku as well. Besic and Atsu are cherries on top.

We need another striker. Desperately. Another AM wouldn't go amiss, someone with a little more creative flair than we currently have.

Currently B+
Lukaku & Barry bought in.
Barkley, Coleman & Stones new contracts
Atsu to replace Gerrard
& Besic looking like a very good acquisition.

What's not to like? and its not over yet, still got a couple of loan slots to fill.

I agree that Robles doesn't look great, but I think he'll do for the games he'll be involved in. A striker and a right back would finish the squad. Anything over and above that is probably excessive, to me.

We do still have 3 loan slots available for now/January, regarding Atsu. Worrying about cover for him is certainly one for January as we'd be paying someone a lot of money to sit on the bench for 5-6 months otherwise.

People in talking nonsense shocker.

We need a striker. That's it.

We've currently got a list of 23 players i'd consider definitely good enough. 23 players started for Man City last season. A few more youngsters made sub appearances. We're on track if we get a striker in.

I think it appears 'excessive' to us because we're a club cut to the bone for over a decade as far as squad strength is concerned. Our squad depth in the past has been achieved by throwing academy players in there to swell numbers. If we're to compete with the teams about us we have to be very serious about building up a big number of quality players who can realistically slot into the first team and even enable us to rotate.

B+ / A-

Lukaku, Barry, Besic all signing permanently and Atsu on loan. All of the young players with high potential have been signed to long term deals.

To call it just an average transfer window is amusing, ok you can say we've only stood still (+ addition of Besic) but surely that is the achievement? Signed all the players that everyone else was saying that was the only reason why we finished where we did! Now we have thrown Besic in on top, all that is left is a striker, and Martinez loves his loans...

Howard, Coleman, Jags, Distin, Baines, Barry, McCarthy, Mirallas, Barkley, Atsu, Lukaku.

Bench: Robles, Stones, McGeady, Besic, Kone, Pienaar, (New Loan Striker)

That, by anyone's standards is a very strong team.

Going for A myself. It's about quality not quantity. Unfortunately transfer windows for clubs with our current resources are about retaining the best players while sharks swim around, and we've done that while making high quality additions.

B.. So far

Get me another good striker and another winger. Preferably at least one on a permanent deal and you're looking at an A. Anything else then is icing on the cake.

If that icing took the form of right back cover and a back up keeper to let Robles go out on loan then we've had a brilliant window.

B- from me. Need another striker and creative player and that would be an A+ window. So in advance i would like Hernandez from the mancs, something a little bit different to what we have or Traore on loan will do. For creative position a nice loan for Jovetic from shitee will do me nicely. I dont think he will go in for a rb as he still rates Hibbert plus at a push the likes of Stones, Browning, Jags, Besic even McCarthy could fill in there so i don't think rb is a priority.

How terrible are Sky Sports. Was looking at their predictions and they all state who they think will be the summers best signing. Heres what they said
Jeff Stelling - Adam Lallana/ROBERT SNODGRASS
Le Tissier - Alexis Sanchez
Paul Merson - Alexis Sanchez
Charlie Nicholas - Cesc Fabregas

Then we get to Phil Thompson, who for some reason spoke the most sense out of them all and said Lukaku.
That Snodgrass quote ruined me
