GOT Wrestle Fest Fan Thread

I touched on this the other week in here, when it comes to being a star in wrestling "technical ability" is way down on the list of things you need.

Wrestling exists to make money. (In WWE) Vince owns it to make money and John Cena wrestles to make money. Vince makes money from John Cena.

But it doesn't cost him a single penny that John Cena can't throw a decent fake punch or puts on a sloppy stf. Or doesn't know 17 differing suplex variations.

Same with Reigns. He's by far the worst guy from the shiled in terms of technical abilty but from day 1 he's been the guy talked of as being the next big things. Because he has the look.

Sure, that will get you attention in the first place and a decent push but you have to have more than that to be a success. You need charisma, you need vocal ability, you need to connect with an audience. You need a lot of things, and technical abilty is near the bottom.

Spot on.
Lack of technical ability has been no barrier to some of the greatest champions in WWE history. It's all about the "Character" they are able to portray. Technical ability means diddly squat in creating a good storyline. I'm not even sure that I'll give the casual fan as much credit as being able to distinguish a really good technical wrestler from a subpar one.

Quite like that card mate.

Not entirely convinced Taker is going to do anything though sadly. We'll sort of sadly.

yeah always assumed when the streak ended Taker would be done....and don't really see why he'd want to carry on, but wrestling is wrestling and there's still been no retirement announcement....would be an interesting feud with Wyatt...

My interest in UFC waned when Brock Lesnar left, but damn... this has certainly piqued it again. Can't wait to see Punk have his first UFC fight.

This, coupled with the huge likelihood that Brock Lesnar is going back to UFC too after he drops the WWE title to Roman Reigns at WM31, means UFC is going to have a massive year in 2015.

Phil will end up fighting some 0-0 bum and he'll probably scrape by, but the second he comes up against anyone with a lick of talent, he's a dead man.

Unless he's like... really, really good at jiu jitsu. In which case he'll do well.

Logically... you have to think there's some substance to this. He's not going to just put himself in a position to get his arse kicked.

His first fight will be against a fellow inexperienced fighter, White has already confirmed that.
