GOT Wrestle Fest Fan Thread

The best example of what i mean is colt cabana. huge draw for a rookie and great on the mic when in the smaller divisions. Called up to the big league, awful gimmick which took nothing he was famous for, booked him to lose matches and then he was gone. Not even given a chance and it was nothing he could do.

then theres the Evan bourne type wrestlers who are very entertaining in ring and then given nothing to run with and so diappear (although wasnt PED involved as well?)

What about Zack Ryder?

He got himself massively over and they buried him six feet under

Not really.

Ability to do what? 450s off the top rope or make people pay money to watch you?

To wrestle proficiently. Doesn't have to be flash, or super technical, but a good medium.

Charisma and look will generally go together, plenty of people will have the look but only a few have charisma so having the look will get the ball rolling but having charisma will let you run with it.

Plenty examples in WWE of guys with the look, but not the Charisma - Batista for one. WWE loves that kinda look. Brock. Batista. Rusev (tho he's a bit short for them) etc..

And kissing ass? Sometimes it will help but with the wrestling business being what it is kissing ass will sometimes see you laughed out the door.

WWE live in a vacuum where normal rules don't apply. Generally you'll make it if they think they can make money from you. Other things sometimes come into play but thats always been the main thing and always will be.

Kissing ass defo works there, especially if you believe what CM Punk was saying in that podcast...

interesting interview with Punk....glad he spoke about HHH.....annoyed me at the time when Punk was red hot, that HHH wouldn't put punk over (punk lost alot of his steam in that fued)....fair play to punk for then refusing the match with HHH at mania for that reason.....

I have a bit of insight into how WWE works myself, and needless to say, the word "professional" doesn't come in to the description of them.

They're basically a bunch of idiots who own a business empire. Vince is a genius in what he does, but it is by no means a conventional business.

I have no doubt whatsoever that pretty much everything Punk said is the absolute truth.

Yeah, tho I do have to wonder over his adversity to putting H over (and Brock, Rock, Taker etc etc) - he's would be hugely popular either way. I would imagine most fans nowadays know the score, and I don't think they care that much whether he won or not, they're still gonna be his fans. Sure there's prestige in being the champ, but guys like Punk and above that. He (and guys like Rock, Cena, Brock, Bryan) doesn't need the belt to be over.

I still think wins & losses matter when it comes to getting a character over.....yes we all know its a work, just the same as every action movie hero & villian needs to look strong to make you want to watch a movie, wrestlers need to be booked strong in order for fans to believe they are the top guy....Punk was made to look particularly weak against ryback, which for me hurt his fued with the rock because it was no longer believable that the guy who got his ass kicked by ryback could now beat the rock.....and following on into WrestleMania it wasn't believable that Punk would be the guy to end the streak.......
when punk was red hot, HHH should have put him over clean....then punk should have been booked strong against Ryback, which would have made Punk vs Rock a much bigger match....
there is a point in a wrestlers career when defeats don't hurt them (Cena, taker, hhh and Jericho are all there now)....punk wasn't at that point when he was finally given his run as champion, for me Vince & HHH really dropped the ball with punk..

Yeah, there's a world of difference in how you win and lose - you can be made to look good in a loss, or weak in a win. I wasn't watching at the time (missed pretty much all Punk's WWE career!), so can't comment on specifics, but seems like they didn't do a good job with him either way.

After seeing it,not been able to remember it,no wonder Punk was not happy with Ryback for throwing him on the floor missing the table making his injuries worst than what they were, surely on purpose when the table is right infront of you, during his interview this week lol

Jesus Christ. That's not even close.

reckless as hell......punk could even have cracked his head or broken his neck off that equipment box ryback was stood on.....pretty sure HHH wouldn't have done that spot with such a reckless talent...

Really enjoyable that from Punk. He doesn't come across as bitter at all, more someone who's wrestling brain is more advanced than the people who are running the game. Shame really because they'll continue to force feed the garbage that is Cena down peoples throats because 'he sells merchandise' while people who really could have been up there with the likes of Rock and Stone Cold are forgotten about.
