Do the WWE ever mention Chris Benoit or has he been wiped from the records?

How did they deal with the situation? Did they handle it well?

Cheers.

I got meself a ticket to Raw @ O2 on 19th May.

He's never mentioned - WWE would rather pretend that era didn't exist, which is a great shame because it had arguably the best actual wrestling action in WWE's history.

When it happened, Vince had to address it issue of course, and the PG era was the result.

Not been mentioned since the initial Raw after his death where they ran a tribute package as the full details of the crime weren't know. Since then as webby says it is largely as though he never existed with any subsequent DVD's having any mention/sign of him edited out. However since the launch of the WWE Network Benoit is back with any show featuring him having the matches shown in full but with the following warning before...

"The following program is presented in its original form. It may contain some content that does not reflect WWE's corporate views and may not be suitable for all viewers. WWE characters are fictitious and do not reflect the personal lives of the actors portraying them. Viewer discretion is advised."

He has still been edited somewhat though as if you search for him no results come up.

As to whether they handled it well is a difficult one given the situation. Think either way they would have been criticised. I think they were embarrassed that they ran a 3-hour tribute to him only to find out he had murdered his family and then killed himself. It was then difficult to know why he had done it with roid-rage being touted as well as the number of concussions he received, both obviously direct results of being a wrestler.

Chris Benoit isn't "banished" from the network. I can't say for certain how many matches he's in but you can see him.

When the WWE released the Money In The Bank DVD, whenever Benoit was doing something, the commentators would go silent and no audio besides the crowd reaction.

There was a video of it on Youtube, I'll try and dig it up.

Cheers guys. Do the WWE do much to look after the mental health of their athletes?
In some ways yes I guess. They do put people through rehab if they have substance issues but mainly the older dudes. If they are under contract they often get binned if they're not a big name. They have the Wellness Policy now which is supposed to stop drug taking but it's pretty much a farce. No way big names like Cena are getting done for steroids, performance enhancing drugs etc.

They are much stricter on concussions now. No headshots with chairs anymore, no tombstones. Also if you get concussed they are much more careful about making sure the wrestlers are fully recovered now.

All in all though they are quite a cutthroat company and so if you aren't doing anything for them they'll happily ship you out.

All of Chris Benoit's matches on ppvs can be viewed on the WWE Network.

They just put a disclaimer up at the start of the show to say that WWE wrestlers are fictional characters and bear no relation to real life, or words to that effect.

I'm surprised more of them don't have breakdowns, must be difficult to integrate into normal society.
I think a lot of the issues come from being on the road pretty much all year round, especially for the top guys. People like Cena, Punk, Bryan, Orton rarely get days off to go home, never get to go on holiday. It's why Brock Lesnar quit the first time round and why he became very dependent on various drugs. Very difficult to have any sort of family, always working with some kind of injury. It's a large part of the reason that CM Punk has just walked away too (he had creative issues too though).

Final inductee into this year's 2014 WWE Hall of Fame class, to be announced on RAW tonight: Razor Ramon.

Already features on a poster advertising tickets for the event.

A perspective of WWE is with TNA recently.

Jeff hardy, renowned drug addict was kicked out of WWE twice for breaking the wellness policy and was deemed too much of a risk. TNA signed him as the big ex WWE star and even featured him as the punchline of a very long (and terrible) storyline.

How does he repay the company? Victory road (i think it is). Due to have a match against sting for the title, he actually came out drugged off his tits. Even though it was the main event they had it last like 30 seconds, eric bishoff came down and basically told them they couldnt wrestle and even Sting held Jeff down when he tried to kick out just to get it over with.

That is why the WWE are so quick to disregard people who are clearly going to be a problem.

One of the few TNA moments i've ever seen. Was a disgrace that night Hardy.

That's the most recent, but there are loads of other examples.

WWE basically fired Kurt Angle in 2006 for having a drug addiction and refusing to go to rehab, yet TNA signed him straight away as soon as he was released and put him on their tv. He wrestles on TNA's shows (he's been in rehab and has had several DUIs since), but his contract is up in August and he's probably leaving the promotion, looking to return to WWE. However, like Hogan, he is unlikely to pass the WWE medical to ever wrestle in WWE again. The standards are so much higher in WWE.
