UK Wrestler Lionheart breaks his neck in a show in Preston….

Gutted
Apparently he has feeling in his arms and legs and doesn't require immediate surgery so doesn't sound as bad as it could have been. Guessing he should make a full recovery.

As for Raw tonight, still no confirmation on Punk being there (unsurprisingly) but they have confirmed Bryan will fight Batista. Could be the start of the move to get him in the title match...

I was there mate, had a birds eye view. Knew straight away something was up. The poor guy was just motionless on the mat, for real. They asked everyone to leave the building as quickly as possible so that he could work on him in the ring. I don't think I will ever forget it. The match he had was absolutely great with AJ Styles, and then the injury happened. Thankfully he has now been released from hospital and is on his way back to his home in Ayr. He posted on his Facebook:

All,

Words cannot describe the physical and emotional roller coaster of the past 30+ hours...

To update, my neck is broken in 2 places. I have had an MRI and the positive spin is there is no immediate requirement for surgery, although that may change...

I don't want to bore anyone or appear to fish for sympathy as I will comment more in depth in time... All I want to say is that the outpouring of support, calls, messages etc has been truly overwhelming... Reading them all has reduced me to tears more times than I can count... I thank you, and I love you... I know not what the future holds, and as emotional and drained as I am, I will fight back from this...

Much love.

Believe x

and

Doctor has said he is happy for me to go home in a collar and a lot of drugs in hand... I will be referred to the hospital in Ayr where I will get my ongoing physio treatment... Huge thanks to my darling Alison and my wonderful parents who drove down and stayed overnight to be with me... Also much love to Steven and Elizabethfor looking after my parents and Alison, Andrew for visiting and making sure I was getting looked after properly... Also a final and special thanks to Steven, Kristoffer Travis and Noam Dar who stayed with me throughout the Saturday evening and early hours... Love you x

Will keep posting updates for those wanting to keep informed x

He's had tons of famous people in wrestling wishing him well via Twitter, including Dixie Carter, Road Dogg, Tazz, Drew McIntyre, Roderick Strong and others.

There's also been an article on him in the Lancashire Evening Post tonight:

Apart from the bad injury to Lionheart that soured things, I had a fantastic time at Preston City Wrestling on Friday and Saturday night.

Had my photo taken with PAPA SHANGO (yes, THE Papa Shango!), as he was over. He was also Godfather the previous night with a bunch of his 'ho's!

Also, Chris Hero, who was Kassius Ohno in WWE NXT until he was recently released, is a really cool, nice guy. He wrestled some great matches on the shows, and he was super nice to me. He put out on Twitter that he really liked Boost chocolate bars, so I brought him one to his merchandise table at the interval and he was absolutely, genuinely made up, and we chatted for a bit. When the bad injury to Lionheart happened, he was absolutely great. He had been at the back, selling his gear, but immediately abandoned his table to help and was running around, helping the support staff deal with the injury in the ring. A real class act.

I also saw the funniest match that I have ever seen, featuring Mike Bennett (of ROH fame) & Maria (of WWE fame) vs Mad Man Manson & Danny Hope. They had a dance off, then they wrestled part of their match in slow motion, which was hilarious as the crowd bought into it and even chanted in slow motion too. Just a brilliant, epic laugh.

Was the Shango gimmick used just for a signing or was he involved on the show itself, I know he used the Godfather gimmick for the tournament

So no punk eh? But a recognition of him existing.

Strange to say the least. Hanging onto hope here now but perhaps there is a chance Punk will return after Wrestlemania instead now, as i said yesterday it was too difficult to slot him into any sort of build up without it feeling forced.

It is just a shame that he wasn't there, did anyone watch raw? What was the crowd like after the opening?

They chanted Punk's name for pretty much all the show mate. With the occasional 'Yes' when Bryan was involved.

Oh and an awesome bit when Cena said he wasn't wrestling that night and the crowd went 'YES' mental!

Thing is @Mikey_Fitzgerald Punk left for the exact reasons you stated. Because guys like Bryan aren't getting what they deserve.

Would you be 'so over' Bryan if he had enough and left?

Yes

Anyone who just walked out like that would annoy me

If Punk hated it so much, why didn't he agree to come in and do a job for someone on the way out, so at least some good could come of it?

Punk left all the fans in the lurch and the fans should support the people like Ziggler, Bryan, Shield etc who have stayed loyal to them and continue to try and produce something they can enjoy. Chanting for Punk during Bryan's segment will only hurt Bryan

Unless it's all a work

The company has become a juggernaught now that has nothing to do with wrestling in my opinion.

Bryan Punk and the like don't get the big push to stardom yet Movie stars the rock and batista return and do. It is no surprise that they are involved with films at the same time of returning either.

After the WWE network which places a stranglehold (no pun intended) on the market to directly put the money into WWE's pocket and TNA floundering it leaves no viable alternative.

This means te creative control only has to make names out of wrestlers, not stars. As long as Randy, John, HHH, Big Show and the like are the faces of the company then Punk, Bryan, Ziggler all will not get a real look in. It is not a suprise that the next people to be pushed are the traditional looking stars (Roman + Big E) rather than the smaller ones.
