At the end of day, like Punk or not he and Bryan Danielson are the two best things in the WWE and the show certainly won't be as good without him.

Orton, Kane, Cena, Batista etc are all boring as ****.

Thank God the Wyatts and the Shield are interesting because it's really going downhill, God Knows what they can do for Mania.

So you'd expect it to be reflected in the ratings then?

In what way? When Punk was champion, I believe he headlined one PPV total (might be two, not sure) as John Cena still dominated proceedings. Neither Punk or Bryan has been pushed to the very top ever IMO - the highest either have ever reached is number two on the show.

Ratings have declined consistently over many years and it isn't because of people like Bryan and Punk - it's an over reliance on Cena appealing to a very set age range who are continuing to grow out of his fanbase and aren't being replaced.

The thing that always bothered me with Cena was has finishing move. The F-U (or attitude adjustment as it's now called) always seemed pretty lame to me. The fact that it's original name is a bit of a play on the ferocious F-5 of Lesnar makes it all the more laughable.

Didn't mind him when he first came on the scene with his rap gimmick.

Says it all about Cena really - he hasn't evolved anything about his character at all for almost a decade. Even Hogan adapted more than he has.

In the way that Dannyevo claimed the show won't be as good without Punk and the top guys left are boring : if thats true their ratings and buy rates will drop right? I think Punk does actually do reasonable well in terms in drawing viewers, hence why they want him back but even without him the drop will be pretty negliable really.

In the main these days its the WWE brand that sells and only a few guys actually draw themselves, the biggest one being John Cena. Something which people who don't like him seem to forget. He gets loud boo's on arenas so it means that a lot of people don't like him right? Well they still pay their money to do so so mission accomplished.

People moaning about the product on the internet make very little difference to WWE's business.

Pf course they could do things better but they have no need, they still do well enoughand are in no danger of losing their position.

Hogan worked his clean cut babyface act for at least 12 years between 84 and 96. He only turned heel because he knew his act was getting stale and the wrestling landscape was changing, he knew he had to change too. Was risky of course but it paid off pretty well.

But Cena's different, he doesn't need to change his act because while yes, i think its stale its still working and he doesn't need to change. Even if he turns heel he'll get the same mixed reactions.

Big new gig for Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson - the drama series 'Ballers' that he's executive producing has had its pilot picked up HBO and will be made into a full series.

The Rock is becoming a major player in Hollywood and tv these days - he's got Fast & the Furious 7, Hercules, and The Fall Guy movies all lined up for release, plus a reality show on TNT called 'Wake Up Call'. And now this series on HBO.

Dwayne Johnson’s HBO Half-Hour Pilot ‘Ballers’ Picked Up To Series

By NELLIE ANDREEVA | Thursday February 13, 2014 @ 4:02pm PST

Dwayne Johnson is headed to HBO‘s primetime. The pay cable network has picked up to series half-hour pilot Ballers toplined by the wrestling and movie star in his first major series gig. He is executive producing the series with his Pain & Gain co-star Mark Wahlberg; Wahlberg’s manager/frequent producing partner Steve Levinson, on whose original idea the project is based; showrunner Even Reilly; and Peter Berg, who directed the pilot. Written by Levinson in his pilot-writing debut, Ballers is exploring the lives of a group of former and current football players. Johnson stars as Spencer Strasmore, a retired athlete. The cast includes Omar Benson Miller as Charles, an affable former pro athlete who is searching for his next career; Denzel Washington’s son John David Washington as Ricky, a highly competitive and highly spiritual pro athlete; Rob Corddry as Joe, a financial advisor who tries really hard to fit in; Troy Garity as Jason, a top-tier sports agent; Donovan Carter as Vernon, a deeply family-oriented pro athlete; Jazmyn Simon as Julie, wife of an ex-pro athlete; Taylor Cole as Michaels, an ESPN sideline reporter who is romantically involved with Spencer; and LeToya Luckett as Tina, widow to one of Spencer’s closest friends.

The series pickup for Ballers, which will start production later this year, comes on the heels of the series order on Tuesday of another half-hour project with marquee stars from a top director and producer, The Brink, starring Jack Black and Tim Robbins. Jay Roach, who directed the pilot, and Jerry Weintraub are executive producing. Both series have been touted as capable of attracting broad audiences, something Johnson already has done in primetime as his WWE alter ego The Rock and on the big screen. He next reprises his role on the Fast & Furious 7 movie, whose production has been delayed by the death of star Paul Walker, and also has feature Hercules and TNT reality series Wake Up Call coming up.

Johnson and Wahlberg’s collaboration on Ballers stems their work together on Michael Bay’s action movie Pain & Gain, while Wahlberg and Levinson recently worked with Berg on his feature Lone Survivor, which starred Wahlberg. HBO is producing Ballers with Wahlberg’s Closest to the Hole Productions, Levinson’s Leverage Entertainment, and Johnson’s 7 Bucks Entertainment. Johnson, Wahlberg, Levinson and Reilly are executive producing along with Rob Weiss (Entourage) and Johnson’s manager Dany Garcia, who runs his production company. Hiram Garcia is co-executive producing, while Levinson’s father, Dave Levinson, and Leverage’s Bret Slater and Peter Sussman will serve as producers alongside Karyn McKarthy (House of Cards). At HBO, Wahlberg and Levinson also produce drama series Boardwalk Empire as well as the upcoming Entourage movie based on the HBO series. They also have breakout reality hit Wahlburgers on A&E Network.

The Willow gimmick is one of Jeff's oldest, he was using that in his and Matt's promotion OMEGA before they got signed by WWE, he's gonna work a double gimmick as he is lined up to be part of MVP's team at Lockdown
