Any tips to get rid of a pot belly ?
I train 3 times a week Thai boxing and I have lost some weight, just can't shift the belly! I rarely drink, and eat quite healthy, I can feel the muscle under my belly, its not a big gut just won't shift !

I'm trying to get rid of my disproportionate gut at the moment. It's a lot harder to do so once you get past 30. My weight's not too bad for my height (77kg, 185cm), just can't seem to shift it no matter what I do.

same age as you mate. I'm no expert but I imagine if you knock carbs on the head you wouldn't have the energy to work out at all? Dunno if I could go without carbs to be honest, I love 'em.

Difficult to say as everyone's different.

I would say get a blood glucose monitoring meter similar to what I mentioned above - this is probably the easiest way to find out what your reaction to carbs is. Just take readings every 15-20 minutes after each meal or whenever you eat anything carby to see what it does to your blood glucose. For those foods that spike your blood sugar it's pretty safe to assume that your insulin is also going through the roof, triggering your fat storage, and and causing your girth to growth.

I honestly wish that I had started doing this for myself years ago. It takes nearly all the guesswork out of it, and is much easier than trial and error.

yeh, but aren't you terribly young, like a mere pup? There's plenty of us who had bulletproof metabolisms in our youths, but become more insulin sensitive and found ourselves putting on weight (ie fat) as we moved into our 20s, 30s, or sometimes even later, on the standard western diet.

I have been regularly monitoring my blood glucose levels in the last month or so (yes I want to quantify and put numbers on absolutely everything!), and it's now very clear to me that I am incredibly insulin sensitive. A normal range would be around 4.0 - 5.8 (mmol/ltr); I find that even something like a spoonful of normal sugar or honey will send my blood glucose levels through the roof to 9.0 or above. With this in hindsight, it's very clear that a low carb diet has been extremely beneficial to me.

26 mate, so not that young! I do find though if I eat badly then I do get a bit of a pot belly, but I can get rid of it in a couple of days more or less. I'm not expecting that to last too much longer though.

2 weeks today and I'm off to Austria. The Stelvio awaits.

Same here, I love bread, rice and pasta !

define 'eating healthy'
do you eat bread?

Yep unfortunatly, try to eat at most 2 slices a day.. normally have a pasta for dinner, with just passata and chicken in, every meal has bread or pasta or rice really, some times a jacket spud

What are you doing to lose it? I'm 34 too, and whilst it's quite probably a bit harder than when you're young, it is doable :)

Im doing Thai Boxing, getting beasted 3 times a week its emmense ! Just not seeing the results I expected ?

Maybe keep a food diary for a couple of weeks. It's really easy to think we're either eating less than we think or burning off more than we think. There are various apps now that help to do it, or you can do it manually. Not saying you have to keep it up permanently (unless you want to) but doing it for a few weeks should give you an idea of what you're eating vs burning.
