Alright I've been slacking the last 6 weeks due to holiday and being lazy.

Time to get back onto it from this week, as I've put on the 5kg I lost pre-holiday.

The weather is beautiful, so no excuses to start jogging and exercising regularly once more!

Bit between the teeth mate, go head and get to it. You live somewhere ace so the scenery should make it even better. Good luck.

Any experienced front-crawl swimmers here? Been doing it for about 6 months and (very slowly) building up my endurance. About 3 weeks ago I managed to get to my pb so far of 1500m in about an hour (crap I know but OK in relation to the point I started from!). But since that 'peak' my stamina has completely dropped off a cliff. I swim about 200m and my body starts to feel like a lead weight, I can hardly kick my legs any more and I have to stop.

Is that a normal phase to go through? I can't think of any causes for it other than I've been working a lot of overtime recently and it could be hitting my energy levels. Any other theories as to what the cause could be? Cheers
distance swimming is a common sport for burn out mate, you need your rest, it can have long term effects, good pros have been finished in their 20's by it, that british lad Davies for example

Not been much in the last two weeks due to little time. Went back in today to see that they've just got a chin up/dips assisted machine thing, not that I need the weight assist like hehehe. Did 3 exercises and I was buggered, just no energy. Tomorrow I shall go again.

@Bruce Wayne @Walken yeah I guess you're right about exhaustion. I'm a crap sleeper but don't think that's the prob. Have had some of my best swims after a crap night's sleep. I guess it must be the extra hours at work.

What would you recommend to get the energy back? I usually try to do 2x swim and 2x gym (nowt strenuous, just 30 min circuit workout) per week. Maybe stay out of the pool for a couple of weeks and then start again?

The poor sleep will be a major contributing factor mate, seriously. Lids underplay the importance of it. I've been stressed at work and stuff lately so not sleeping too well and it has so many bad side effects on your life, including energy for training.

Cup of black coffee half an hour before the gym usually helps though.

2-3 teaspoons of instant coffee in a bit of cold water used to be my cheap pre workout drink. Tried it for the first time in ages a couple of weeks ago and nearly spewed. Foul.

I'm on N.O. Explode before workouts at the moment and its sound lid, try that.

I can tell you rate that stuff as you've tried to push it on me about 5 times now. You sure you're not on commission lid? I'll probably get on that when I finally get out of the prison that is uni and back in to work. Protein is the priority for now though.

I crush garys into it lad and its sound, honest to God have a go.

You've just reminded me. I was listening to some old DnB in the gym the other week and a real old one came on that I'm sure I haven't heard since I was MDMA'd off my face in The Magnet a few years ago. Was a bit of a weird feeling like.

Lid you joking me? I posted the same thing abar a week ago in this thread I think? Was in the gym in Greece a few years ago and Kruder & Dorfmeister came on and I felt like I was coming up. Let me find the post.

I'm one of the weirdos where music actually puts me off. I find myself trying to deadlift to the beat of Venga boys and I'm pretty sure that's no thing.

I was working out in Greece beards ago and Kruder & Dorfmeister came on which I used to listen to on Garys. I swear down I started coming up in the middle of the gym. Repressed brain chemicals coming to the fore.

I had to go home and text my mate who buzzed off me.

There you go lod.

You and I is in sync.

Hahaha, I must have read that but honestly can't recall it. Fortunately I didn't put gary's in my pre-workout like you though so I could carry on.
