goodbye cahill

Yeah. A few people have said he was playing well and not scoring but he wasn't, the rest of the team were doing better but Cahill was still contributing to the team exactly the same as he had been for the past 2 seasons.

Being offside and giving away fouls.

I remember pointing out during his fantastic spell at the start of the season before last, that I had worries because although he was scoring (9 before the new year) the team in general were playing poorly, and we were at the bottom of the league.

Cahill for me was at his best when our team was a bit more endeavour and a little less spark. During the 04/05 season especially we managed to finish 4th on the back of that attitude. I just think as we started to become more of a passing team, with the introduction of players like Pienaar and Arteta being moved centrally, that Cahill's effectiveness diminished.

I'm wary of saying this stuff though because I know people get touchy, which is understandable. I don't like saying bad things about Cahill just as much as people don't like hearing them, because Tim Cahill is a freaking hero to me.

Even his biggest fans and im 1 of them, will admit that he kinda stank a lot last Season.

Hell, im fairly sure even Cahill cant have been happy with the way he was playing.

I think it is time that he went and made big bucks in the arab world and to retire comfortably afterwards in a australian team.

I still hold him the the highest regard and I will be following him as long as he plays football and I will be rooting for him.

He wasnt poor ALL Season, I thought he came alive a little when we signed Jelavic.

But for a lot of the Season he was a waste of shirt.

Complete and utter Legend and if he leaves will be sorely missed.

At his peak, he carried us alone.

Me too. They struck up a bit of a partnership. Jelavic has stabbed him in the back there pestering Moyes for that lad with no knees to come in and take his place.

Best ever signing for me by Moyes. Deserves everything they have to offer. Would love to see him play as coach etc, his global appeal & monetary value has never been fully capitalised on by us.

Selling Cahill = selling our soul. Want him here for the rest of his career, just because of the person he is. And as an ambassador for the club after he retires. Maybe a future coach, as I'm sure he'll take his coaching badges.

Oh David, you lighten up my life every single day.

Please, never change.

Looks to be true though. By all accounts he's been lobbying for *Kid goals* to come in and hold his hand.

*The Echo's lame nickname for Kneesmith. Near fell over when I read that.

I think if Cahill does go, and it is a big if, he deserves every penny (cent) he gets, legend is a word used too often these days for players who have done sweet fa, but personally I think he falls in to the legend category, not because of his talent, but because he gets Everton, and what it means to be part of our family, I wouldn't be surprised to see him back at Goodison, hopefully as a coach, maybe manager one day?
