Our goal threat has me terrified but the defence doesn't look horrifying if going with a back 5. Shifting 2 of Allan Gomes and Gbamin (easier said than done) and replacing with one serviceable holding mid would put us in a better place
Going to a back 5 puts more pressure on the midfield to retain possession and be creative, and reduces our attacking threat. IMHO.

Pretty much our only option given how porous we are at the back and in midfield though
Playing 2 CMs instead of 3 does absolutely nothing to reduce the pressure on our defence. Nor does it help our midfield to improve their inconsistent attempts to possess or progress the ball effectively.
In fact, playing a 2-man midfield instead of a 3-man midfield will simply exacerbate these problems, as demonstrated in our preseason games so far.
