I like how you’ve ordered the players we have in terms of your preference from ‘love’ to ‘get out’.

Good job!

I’d say the vast majority of these players need to be added to that list eventually. With only the exceptions of Schneiderlin if being used for back up, either of Williams or Beni if they do have a future, or Lookman I’d he wants to stay and fulfill his potential.

Yep. When I look at the full list we look light in a number of areas despite the numbers

I’m still a little bit worried about our plans for the right back position.

I think it’s fair to expect most of our money and energy will go to signing a striker, right winger and another center back and that’s rightfully so. It’s what should be done, they’re all far bigger needs right now than a right back.

Coleman can still perform to a good enough level for the next 12 months to be our first choice right back this season and I understand we simply cannot replace every first choice player in one transfer window either.

The expectation is on Coleman to start every week he’s fit and Holgate to be our fourth choice CB but our second choice RB. However with Coleman getting on in age a little now and injuries have begun to catch up with him a little bit now so I’m concerned that just him and a relatively unproven Holgate could leave us short and potentially weak at right back.

I think this is the season to experiment and blood young players> let's assume the plan is Holgate long-term at CB and RB cover then JJK in 2020 onwards, then this makes more sense than buying an extra player now
You're assuming that the worst case scenario we lose both our first choice RB and 2 first choice CBs - which would be really unlucky and I don't think we should plan for that.
If JJK is not the long-term RB option then we need another Digne at RB, i.e an unbelievable choice out of nowhere that doesn't cost much.

Still need either 1 RB and 1 CB or 2 CB depending on what you see Holgate as. We also need a left footed winger, a striker and one more attacker who can play on the wing and up front. Also I would like another GK in who is young who can be 3rd choice for 1st team and play u23 as well.

Outs Stekelenburg, Martina, Pennington, McCarthy, Schneiderlin, Besic, Bolasie, Mirallas, Tosun and Niasse.

Loan Baningime.
We have Virginia as our young keeper. He is our 3rd choice for 1st team. We would recall him if both pickford and lossl got injured but he is on loan to get senior level game time.
If we get rid of Stekelenburg we do. I'm thinking someone who can fill the gap left by Virginia play most u23 games and be 3rd choice. I don't think Hansen is ready for that and apart from some penalty saves Stekelenburg has been a weak link.
Can't recall players unless its in a window. Even then we would need a clause and it wouldn't be beneficial to recall Virginia as if only one keeper was injured he would only be on the bench. Virginia needs to stay at Reading all season where hopefully he will impress and be ready to challenge next season.
Goalkeepers are a specialist position so special compensation can be awarded to recall them in emergencies. We sign another youth, then he sits on the bench or playing at a level that is known not to be good enough (u23). So then he is unlikely to be good enough to step in, so would need a loan. It will be the same situation with any young keeper.
We got rid of 3 young GK at end of season a 4th has gone on loan. Only one has stepped up from u18s. I do agree with some of your points but if Lossl got injured I would rather not recall Virginia as he would only be on the bench and Stekelenburg has had his day. I'm not talking spend a fortune but we need someone ideally under 21 so they don't take one of the allocated places in the 25 man squad which Stekelenburg will and if he never gets on the bench due to no injuries its an absolute waste. Of the players who I would keep only Davies is exempt at the minute.
if by some chance both Pickford and Lossl are injured then Stekelenburg will do

We just had a bid for fleetwoors u19 england keeper rejected the other day...£200k

Hopefully he's good enough to be 3rd choice as I would like to say goodbye to Stekelenburg in this window. He should definitely be cheaper on wages.

We won't be getting rid of the hologram this window mate. He's out of contract next year, he's 36. He'll probably just hold on for another year then call it a day.
