Anyone else noticing how significant the goalkeeping position is becoming from an offensive point of view, sweeper keepers were speed and quality of distribution is becoming the standard, also as an outlet and funnel for distribution.

I think we are going to see Goalkeepers being bought and developed in a different way, with different qualities being valued and new statndards being set.

If Pickford's not going to play tonight I'd love to see Joao Virginia start in goal! If he's good enough get him in as Pickords no'2 and give him experience in and around the first team!
The only goalie I can remember that came through the ranks and played regularly was Andy Rankin, he replaced West a few times and Catterick was fair on this, if you did the biz you stayed in, iirc, he only ever lost his place when he got injured.
