Getting In His Face

Sorry mods in advance but can't find another thread to link this too.

So in our latest capitulation a certain Mark Noble (amongst others) constantly got in the referee's face and it worked to their advantage as it seemed they had the majority of the decisions and yet our captain is the real gentleman and just accepts things!!!!!

Do you think we need someone who can influence the ref, others have it and it works.

A couple of times at the weekend decisions such as:

Mirallas yellow for diving but no yellow for WHUFC player diving, this could have been influenced by an active captain.

Everton penalty, last man send off, this too could have been influenced by a more aggressive captain.

Everton penalty, goalkeeper two yards off goal line.

On numerous occasions not just their captain but several players where constantly chatting to the ref, indeed at half time they escort him off the pitch whilst our team and captain just seem to accept things?

I know people will come back with this isn't the Everton way but it seems it is every other teams way and it works.

How many points have the likes of Stevie Me, John Terry and the likes earned them by standing up for their team and players instead of meekly bowing down to officials!!!

You are correct, of course; see how Liverpool's players all protest en masse whenever there's a decision against them.

The football authorities and referees should solve the problem by booking the likes of Noble and Carragher every time they protest. That would solve the problem. Unfortunately we all know this won't happen.

TBH I am probably having a go at all of the players but particularly Jags.

For the penalty decision we were celebrating like we had already scored when I would have been trying my hardest to get the defender sent off, just like Noble with Mirallas and the resulting miss meant we had no advantage for the decision.

Personally i'm used to it. The discussion keeps coming round but it was never like this under Moyes either so i don't expect things to change any time soon.

I've said this for years, we are soft as [Poor language removed], it's been going on for years too, the fa aren't putting a stop to it anytime soon. Like the saying goes if you can't beat them join em.

We seen the proof with carragher and Gerard reffing every Derby, and we wonder why our record is so poor.

On Saturday why wasnt our captain and players pressuring the ref after Antonio had been booked, then was late on Joel
It's a joke.

Same with the city goal ball over the line, a few hands in the air. The players should have gone mental. And with Chelsea's late goal too

I want s winning manager and a bunch of snide players, who hound refs cheat and dive. We are a soft touch and everyone knows it

Robles did get in the ref's face and got booked for it in fact

You are correct, but once again Everton made it easy for the referee because Robles had to travel down the pitch to make a protest when Jags or a player closer to the ref should make the protest. He wears a green shirt so stands out more. A protest has to be timed correctly such as my examples above and not just when you are pissed off.

I think there is an element of us being too nice, too gentlemanly.

I would love a proper snide in the team again, a Tim Cahill or someone like Roy Keane - someone who plays with passion and isn't afraid to give people a bit of a kick up the arse.

It would have been an absolutely appalling decision if the ref had sent the West Ham player off.

It was an absolutely appalling decision the ref or linesman missing a ball that was out, it still got a team to a cup final.

If every decision was perfect I would agree with you, but they are not and you have to take every advantage you can. If the ref sent him off would you rather Jags said "no ref, keep him on the pitch"?
