Get a grip

I'm normally quick to point out when people are kneejerking and often find it laughable how some think we're better than we are when we're doing well then when we have a bad game we're all of a sudden the worst side in the league. However, it wasn't so much that we got beat last night, it was the feeble manner in which we went about it. We took 5000 on a dismal Tuesday night, accounting for nearly a quarter of the attendance so, as a set of supporters, we're a rarity in taking this competition seriously - it's the chance to win some silverware for the first time in nearly two decades for ****'s sake - it's just a shame Moyes didn't seem to be doing the same.

Harsh!?!?, Get a grip?!?!, myself and 5,000 others who paid £28 and drove in deadlock traffic for nearly 3 hours, to sit in a ****ty ground to watch a victory for the blues disagree, it was beyond poor to be outplayed by a mid-table championship side and blow our best opportunity for a trophy, the players out there should of had more than enough to get a victory last night but seemed largely disinterested in the 1st half especially Fellaini who was woeful and kept giving the ball away(I won't blame Junior he's a kid and could of done with stronger performances from those more experienced heads around him). I've no doubt that we'll recover and carry on well in the league, but that does not mean we'll be put back in the cup does it? You're only as good as your last game and that was just gash.

Spot on that. I'm not normally one to sound like "I go the game so my opinion matters more" but it does seem that the ones who seem unarsed not that we went out of the cup but that we limped out with little fight are the ones who didn't shell out £50 odd to go and watch it last night.

did you? we were much better in the 2nd half. We had tons more possession in the 2nd half - in the 1st Fellaini and Junior were getting dominated in midfield

We was still giving the ball away a lot and our defenders still thought hoofing it (sorry, long ball) was our best option even though we didn't win one second ball. We still struggled to contain their strikers and they were finding the space between our defence and midfield with ease. Just before their second goal they had a spell were we couldn't get the ball off them. You know, that injury hit, mid table championship side we played last night. Fellaini and junior did get dominated but Neville didn't do much better. Pienaar was the reason we tried to play better football going forward but we still struggled to control them when they came at us.

I don't think its knee jerk to be fuming after being played off the park by an injury crippled Leeds side.

There was no need to start these youngsters, I think we showed a distinct lack of respect to Leeds and this cup by fielding a weakened side. If we were playing lots of games (if we were in Europe for instance) I could sort of understand it, but we have a home game in 4 days time against a newly promoted team, what are we resting senior players for?

I would have liked the same team that faced Swansea to play the first 45 then make changes at half time. I know it's a mickey mouse cup, but a cup is a cup, and a final at Wembley is good for the players, club and fans.

Where do I lay the blame?
I would say too many changes, seniors and youngsters completely unfamiliar with each others play, coupled with half ass performance. Still think we are top 5 contenders on our day, providing this kind of performance is never replicated.

i actually wouldn't blame moyes for last night, I thought the team that started had a good balance about it with a couple of new players rightly getting a chance with the cavalry waiting in the wings to hopefully win the game for us if/when needed - unfortunately the team as a whole just didn't perform for some reason, it happens sometimes, i think the shouts on here from some along the lines of 'look what happens when we take Neville out of the team' are mindnumbingly stupid, the jury is still out on Naismith, he had a bad game but could still come good, as for Gueyue I think we've seen enough of him at this stage to make a fair judgement on him and that judgement is that he's fairly ****e, he's never gonna make it at this level, i would stake everythign i own on that, you can just see that he's already shown us everything he's got and thats not much

I actually strangley feel a bit more confident of turning over southampton now, have a horrible feelign that DM wont want to drop VIC and stick him on the wing, two wrongs dont make a right Davey

If last night does one thing it puts to bed the insistence by the pollyannas that we have a strong squad. We are, as can clearly be seen now, very brittle beyond a core of 13/14 players.

Yeh, we know we're a good team so why do we keep fcking up in these cup games?

I'll defend Moyes team selection to the death. Yes it ultimately backfired but it was the sort of risk he should be taking. We need to blood youngsters and new players somewhere and if our established players had turned up we had more than enough quality to win that.

Is right. At least he tried to mix it up. The players out there should have been enough to beat a lower league Leeds team with six regulars meeting but they sh*t it, they absolutely sh*t it. That's not Moyes' fault.

City got stung 4-2 by Villa at home tonight. As Tobin says, all teams have "one of the games" every once in a while, particularly in the cup.

yes but city are champions plus they have CL football and more likely to finish top 4 again, wheres we need to win
some silverware
