has been a very good player for them glad he has gone, they must have very short memories if they think he was there second best player though, would take souness over him if they were both at their peaks he shone out in a miles better team, and Keegan european player of the year and Rush you could make a case for as well as the likes of Yeats, Hanson ect.

The expected overkill shock horror aspect of the headlines..Mirror - Liverpool Sensation GERRARD QUITS. What ? The end high he wanted vanished when last season didn't stick to the script and his ego (however much he always overplayed that he didn't have one) was never going to stand for this 'now you see me, now you don't' petering out of his career that Rodgers was applying. Hes obviously been a fantastic player for them and held their head above water on many an occasion when they were on their knees. Lets just hope the fingers down throat eulogising over him doesnt carry on too long...the random suggestions though like retiring his shirt number (which has popped up already) may at least give us a bit of a laugh. Christ knows, we need one.

Exactly, add in Hughes, Callaghan etc and slippy is way down the list.......he'll be given Sainthood status by the time the media let him go........

Theyre already writing the next script.....D Mail, of course, one of a long list. No compensation for him though even if it did happen.

Can Gerrard bow out with birthday FA Cup triumph?

We've just re-lived Gerrard's greatest FA Cup moment but could he bow out by leading Liverpool to victory in this year's competition?
They take on AFC Wimbledon in the third round of the competition on Monday night and should they progress all the way to the final on May 30, Gerrard could lift the trophy on his 35th birthday.
