Come on everyone, it is late on a Friday, the booze is taking hold, what are all the ITK stories about this clown that the world deserves to know?

How many months, allegedly, did he stay, allegedly, in his mate's hotel in Southport, allegedly, before he was allowed to return to the family fold, allegedly? All rubbish, no doubt.

How is this even news?

"Was he the best midfielder in Premier League history?

You don’t need to hear another glowing tribute from me, so let’s hand you over to his fellow professionals.

He was selected for the PFA team of the year on eight occasions — a record.

Giggs, Patrick Vieira and Henry were chosen by their peers six times; Roy Keane and Frank Lampard were included five times, Paul Scholes twice.

And where does he stand with Liverpool? NO EFFING PREMIER LEAGUE TITLES, Jamie. That's where he stands.

And what was Jamie wanting for Mr LFC?

"But over the next 12 months Steven could have been given a role on the staff to combine with his playing duties.

It would have been like work experience, with him shadowing Brendan Rodgers, looking at how the academy is run — all the different aspects of the club".

Hahahaha. Mr Clever's goffa.

The Mail forgot and left a few pics off their Tribute to a Treasure rolling feature today. Happy to oblige with some that got away.....

The shocking thing is, a bit like the reel of Suarez's indiscretions, not one of these was given a red card, some of them weren't even given as fouls. There were a few years at the height of the Benitez period where Liverpool could do literally whatever they wanted physically in a derby and the ref would just play on. Elbows, shirt pulling, two footed lunges, rugby tackles, kung fu kicks, trips dives etc. all unnoticed. Meanwhile we only had to breathe on someone and it was a penalty or free kick accompanied with a yellow card. Made it almost impossible to play against them at Anfield at times. The referees in the premier league really are a disgrace.

Pfffttt.... End of the day all he's done is stick 2 fingers up at Rodgers and refused to take a lesser role in the team for less money for 1 year.... His ego would never allow it when he can go America for another big payday.... It's spitting on the club that made him a multi millionaire for a few extra dollars in the bank, if he truly loved that club he would have ended his playing days there... Simple as.

Gerrard was probably the first to pull on the "Suarez is innocent and we all love him" t-shirts,...."he is a misunderstood world class talent being unfairly victimised" etc etc.

I bet he is snidey two-faced gobshite behind the scenes, whispering and [Poor language removed]-stirring behind the manager's back if he is not doing things in the Stevie-G approved manner.

Yes ...they really were a bunch of dirty horrors Benitez nurtured...Mascherano, Lucas, Kuyt, Gerrard, Alonso, Garcia, Carragher....going over the top, sly foot stomps, off the floor/two footed tackles. No wonder I got a pacemaker young ! The standard of referees is rock bottom. Of course, the RS luck has moved on from not being carded for fouls to now gaining pens for face-ball, own goals and goalkeeper assisted goals.

"I would have followed you, my brother... my captain... my king "

Oh FFS, i've never met a more deluded fanbase with their heads shoved up their butts then the RS. My brother? My king? Are you kidding me? Stevie Me is not your brother, you don't know him and he's certainly not your king. He's a footballer and nothing else.

As much as I like Everton, you would never hear me talk like that when any player moves on, no matter how good he is because that's just plain creepy and very cult like. As it the norm with many kopites and I like to think in the real world.

He's a good footballer, but i'm really glad he's gone. Everyone thinks he's the greatest leader ever when he's really self-centered and egotistical in his personality, overrated in his abilities, a cheat, scored many of his goals on pens and for how good he is, he never won the league.

Sorry but he can win all the trophies in the world and score over 100 goals but will always be remembered for the slip and nothing else.

Good riddance.

The problem is everybody is falling over themselves to deliver toe curlingly cringey eulogies to him. You'd think he'd cured polio or something the way some go on.

I agree @bluemangroup

I mean I have read things about how legendary he was, how much of an inspirational leader he was, how he was a loyal servant to the LFC cause and that the game will basically be lessen with him gone.

With how the journalists and pundits are talking about him, you would of thought he was some sort of footballing Churchill. He was a good footballer who was very deceptive in who he really is. He was man who was highly self centered who loved to makes everything about him. For how loyal people he was, this was a man who was half way out the door to Chelsea until Benitez convinced him to say and a man who wouldn't take a pay cut to say or take a lesser role on the team he's supposed to love and that's why he's out. If he cared about LFC as much as people say he does, he would take one for the team in order to improve it even it meant a reduction in wages or playing time.

Yes he's a good footballer and an important figure to LFC, but all these tributes i'm reading about Gerrard are over the top, nauseating and highly unnecessary IMHO He just a footballer and not even one who transcended the game like David Beckham did. He's also a footballer who's leaving the club he loved so much because of money and his ego. That's not warranted mass amounts of tributes but he's a media darling so......

I think there's been a real lack of English legends in recent years so the press are naturally going to jump all over that and tell us what a true great of the game we are losing. That and the fact a Liverpool soft media are desperately trying to erase the memorey of Gerrards last ever title race.

As much as I dislike Liverpool, Gerrard is an absolute Premier League legend. This world class goal in particular is something I will never forget.

Agreed. You have a point about the lack of real English legends in today's game. You have Rooney and outside of that the talent is pretty thin on English players who you could really compare with the best in world football in terms of talent and that's why you see the English media puts guys like Gerrard, Sterling, Wilshire and any other starlet who has even a shred of potential because their so desperate for a English hero to push on the grand stage so that's a fair comment.

As for Gerrard and the title race, for all the FA Cups and European titles he's won, he'll be remembered in my opinion for being a club legend who could never win a league title including being part of a title race that was firmly in LFCs hands, only to throw it away thanks to Stevie G and his infamous slip against Chelsea despite infamously declaring that we will not let it slip.

To me that's a fair criticism because given how many times LFC have won the league in his history, it's important to win it. Even their famous manager Bob Paisley once said that winning the European Cup is great, it's about winning the league since the league is the bread and butter (even though he said that in a time where winning the European Cup isn't the be all to end all like it is today I still think it has merit) and Gerrard never did it and i'll remember him for that whatever that's fair or not.
