Gerard Deulofeu

No chance Dolberg would come here.

Tend to agree, then again, depends how smart the lad is as well, he goes to United, Chelsea or such like then theres a good chance he won't hardly be seen, will end up either not factoring or being farmed on loan for a few years before ending up going to the likes of Wolfsburg, Lyon etc

Just need to look at the long list of young players highly touted who have gone into those black holes of clubs never to do anythig really mate.

Can include Madrid, barca etc in the list of clubs that do similar.

Theres players as good with more games and more proven whove gone into those types of teams who've dissapeared.

All depends on who he has advising him and if the lad can look at his career as a whole. (Most just go for the glamour of being at 'a big club' to the detriment of their careers ofc)

Thehn again look at Erekson at spurs, a similar situation to Dolberg but more proven and ended up going to spurs, so wouldn't count us completely out if we actually had any desire to get him in ofc which i have no idea if we do or not

Indeed, Faddy.

Koeman should be working on ways to incorporate Del's talents into the team.

I'm not being funny Khal, but why?

We've done fine without him.

I want Del to succeed and by the sounds of it he came on against Leicester and played very well for 20 minutes, but then immediately dropped off.

Del isn't as good as we make out. I'm not saying Mirallas, Lennon or even Bolasie are particularly better or more talented, but they all fit better into the team. Deulofeu just doesn't do what he's good at enough. If he did he'd be extremely effective.

Sometimes a player and manager don't click. Martinez was a big fan of del and didn't play him either. He doesn't have the aggression for starters. He always look knacked after 20 minutes. I still remember his quality goal against arsenal. Thought he would be special but there a theme as managers don't seem to play him?

Don't they trust him?
Does he not put enough in training every week?
Is he not good enough?

People need to get real here. The kid is an utter weakling. He has the physical presence of an U11. He hasn't scored since 2015. He can't play more than half an hour without being goosed. He offers as much tracking back as Dimitar Berbatov. He can't even dive properly.

Basically if we are looking to progress, and I'm fairly sure we are. Then we need rid of these kind of mentally weak players. He's a nice kid and undoubtedly talented. But there's no place for players like him going forward and we should take a good fee and move on.

I don't enjoy agreeing with this, but you're right

In a way I'll be sad when he leaves as he has more talent than the vast, vast majority of players I've seen play for Everton in the last 25 years but his mental and physical weaknesses are such that he's never going to be an effective player for us. Sell for as much as we can get while we still can.

Del is the same player we loaned 3 years ago, he hasn't developed any part of his game and this is probably why he is still not in the first team.

It is fustrating because he has the potential, but he needs to be actually applying it and trying to get better. Personally, i think this is another knock on effect from martinez, another young player under the impression they can just 'play the game' and not try to improve themselves ala barkley and stones to a fair degree.

I would love nothing better than to see del in our first team and playing like the lad we know he can be. But until he does then he is a massively away from a top 6 winger in this league.

I suppose it's a vicious circle isn't it.

On one side, he's not applied his talent enough - or consistently enough - during the games he plays, and that results in less game time, which in turn hinders a chance of consistency...

But it boils down to his aptitude for me.

His attitude is fine. I can't think that he's disliked by the squad or anything, and he seems a genuinely nice lad. But he doesn't apply his talent enough.

He just needs a consistent run of games which he wont and should not get here. If he joined a team where he played the 30 games in a row Im sure we would start to see some better performances in a higher number of games but still with the games in between when he is average.
I am a big fan but sometimes it takes a player a number of clubs to find that fit where he can reach his potential. I dont think its gonna be us though so he will me moved on.

The one and only time he had a run of games was last season and he was by far our best player during that period, with the second highest amount of assists in the league (behind only ozil) despite having played half as many minutes as everyone else on the list.

People seem to conviniently forget this ever happened.

Yep. Then he was causing City all sorts of problems in the 2nd leg of the SF, he gets dragged off and barely seen again for months. It was bizarre.

But there's an obvious pattern emerging isn't there? Barca rated him really highly, then gave up on him. Emery initially gave him a big role at Sevilla, then dropped him completely. Martinez had him in the form of his life, then pulled him out for the rest of the season. Koeman trusted him at first and had him playing up front and pretty much in every game, now wants to bomb him out.

A lot goes on that we aren't privvy to, so I guess we just have to trust the management on this one.

History dictates kids never pick the sensible option in the world of football. He'll be off to the highest CL bidder.

think you meant to quote me there not Ash mate, and yeah i do tend to agree, very very few of them do seem to choose the 'best option' for there career - and go for the one with the shinest lights instead.

OK, so he had a decent run of games once for a spell and did the business. But when you offset those 3 months against the rest of his entire career, it's not really that impressive is it?

Wes Morgan and Robert Huth were two of the best central defenders in the premier league last season for a spell. Doesn't exactly make them Baresi and Costacurta does it?

Any player can show a bit of temporary form, it's keeping it up that separates the wheat from the chaff!

Problem with Deulofeu mate is he just hasnt got the stamina to succeed at this level in this type of pace of league.

Don't even think it's a fitness issue, i honestly just think natural he doesn't have much of an engine/endurance - see it often in other sports - Boxing being a very good example, can have some amazingly talented fighters who just run out of gas after4-5 rounds, thats what he reminds me off, and why we won't ever see him hit the heights the talent suggested he could do once upon a time.

Yeh sorry mate phone is being weird. Wouldn't mind setting up some sort of link with Ajax if Gerard went there.

Aye even now they still produce a lot of quality young academy players and one day they will probably have another amazing crop come through as those clubs tend to do it i cycles.
