I feel for Del in some ways
He was so overhyped for so long that unrealistic expectations have been dropped on him IMO, and that's not his fault
For years now, a few of us have been pointing out that perhaps he isn't the finished article yet and he needs to be coached to reach his full potential, yet I find myself sad to see so many of the fan base sharpening their knives for him, especially as I've never been a member of his bandwagon
At least have the strength in your convictions to stick by him in his moment of need. He needs you right now more than ever, and you're deserting him (Not ALL of you I hasten to add, and please don't take this as an attempt at WUMming, because it honestly isn't intended as such)
It's blinking madness that I'M the one who is having to make this post right now. Just look at my previous posts in here FFS
He's got a lot of skills in his locker, but he isn't at the level we all want him to be just yet. However, that doesn't mean he can't get there in time. If you consider yourself a Del fan, now is the time for you to be there for your man. Take up arms and fight for him!
We're seeing it with Jimmy Mac as well, people who used to back him now demanding his culling
If you like a player, stick with them through rough or smooth until it's clear there's no way back for them
Heck, at least I waited for Tom Clev to put in one of the single worst Everton performances of the past decade before rescinding my backing of him
