Gerard Deulofeu - Once a Blue, always a Blue

I like Deulofeu, he can make things happen a lot of the time. But I'd rather have Lennon if the choice was between them. He's the team player.

Makes no sense to me if we get rid of one player who plays for himself, like Mirallas, and then sign another. We should be looking for players with ability and discipline. That's the way forward. I think some people are maybe forgetting just how infuriating GD was when he was here.
Perhaps the coaches here are hoping that side of his game will develop as he matures?

This is too good an opportunity to pass up. The boy it seems wants to come back, we'd be stupid not to grab the opportunity with both hands particularly at the price mentioned.

We had absolutely no X Factor going forward this season in wide areas - we need a threat like Deulofeu. Lennon is a great option, specifically in away games where we need to harrass the opposition; but wingers like him you can get from all over the place. The type of threat Deulofeu has (albeit not honed) is considerably rarer; the ability to run the ball at pace, turn quickly, unleash shots from angles.

It's Deulofeu all day long for me over Lennon, and at £3m it'd be the biggest no brainer of a signing any club has ever made ever really.
I still dont think he can be a starter. He's an impact player you turn to in order to transform the pattern of a game. He's a luxury that a club like Everton cant afford, just like Mirallas is on a lot of occasions. Wide players have to have the ability to contribute to work elsewhere on the pitch and Deulofeu doesn't give you that.

I'd take him, but unlike last time around if he does arrive he'll be starting a lot more - which would be the precondition in him signing I'd imagine, and that is a concern.

I sort of agree with both here, but I'd ultimately come down on the side of bringing him back.

We seemed devoid of a threat at times last season, so perhaps he'd provide a bit more attacking impetus, a catalyst for going forward?

They money should be there to get both Deulofeu and Lennon, dont know why we have to choose between them.
Don't see the point in signing both. If we sign Deulofeu, then it would be better spending the 6 or so million that Lennon would cost, on another needed position in the team rather than a position we'd just spent on.

Oh we'd need both, definitely. You need a worker on the right and a flair player - we have neither at the moment.

On the left you have two inside forwards in Mirallas and Pienaar. On the right we're very, very weak, hence Osman being used wide right, where he is utter garbage.

McGeady I don't even count at this stage. He was worth a gamble, didn't pay off, needs to be unloaded to a Championship side or one of the newly promoted teams.

We need a Lennon type player on the right to start, and an effective flair player who can play left or right - so Lennon and Deulofeu tick those boxes.

Other than that position, we need a number 10, unless Cleverley is the solution there in Martinez's mind. Everywhere else we're actually pretty strong; arguably a striker but if we set up and play to Lukaku's strengths rather than his weaknesses, we're all set there too.

Lennon is a good hardworking player but his game is all about pace and his injury record is poor. The money should go on Deulofeu. Id like both though.

If we get him for £8m or so then that's a great deal. Anything more starts to become a bit of a gamble.

£12/£13m for him and Lennon would be good.

Was I the only one that was really bored watching us play 90% of the time this season?

Yes Lennon is a safer bet, will be more a team player and will help out defensively.

But I want to enjoy my Saturday afternoons at Goodison, want to be entertained and get off my seat after a moment of brilliance that only certain players can provide.

For all his flaws, and yes he made you wanna pull your hair out many times, he's a player that you look forward to going to see on a Sarurday afternoon.

Have to agree with this as well. Even though Del is worth a small outlay if reports are true. I would still go for Lennon, i think many are doing him a diservice here - he was very involved in a lot of our goals since Jan and his pace offers a different dimension.

Out of interest would Del be the No 10?
