Australia is booming lids, lots of opportunities. 1000's on New Zealanders a week are emmitgrating there, that's not even an exageration, there are literally 1000's a week moving. They have a good business relationship with the Asian countries and they are growing alongside them.

The UK sounds screwed to me, not looking to move back anytime soon.

Sad reading that mate, but I've heard similar. It's home at the end of the day, you always have an emtional attachment to the palce, but I wouldn't be wanting to raise a family there that's for sure.

It's a good job there's a plan B....

...erm.....

Plan A is long since gone..the tories got it wrong simple as that to cut as hard and as fast was stupid and its now being shown with no growth whatsoever (he killed what (very) little growth there was with the VAT rise and of measures) unemployment set to sky rocket so that brings lower taxes in,benefit payments go up..did they not releaise this would happen?

Find it amusing too when it suits the tory argument "its labours fault" but now its deeper than we feared..hardly the world has been in a slowdown for the last few years, again all they had to do was read the papers..its been like this since what 2008?

He will be back this time next year having to borrow more money etc for more "job creation" etc..the tories utterly got this wrong of course the deficit has to be sorted but that should have waited, people needed to be in jobs and have the private sector creating jobs again before the cuts (funny i thought the private sector was going to employ everyone made redundant from the public sector?).

The deficit isnt getting under control and at some point, like it or not taxes will have to rise to pay it off but that should have been the medium to long term goal, these are dark times the sort of times not seen since the 1930's..we needed government to react to that problem not one that has little clue what to do.

no mate you dont, were facing dark times in the uk, no leadership shown from are leaders in fact i dont think for one minute they know a thing about normal life all three leaders only jobs have been in politics, kids in debt for there education, old people using there lifes savings to even have a little bit of dignity in there later days, and this showers only answer is to cut with one hand and borrow with the other, its all leading to a breakdown in uk life that will make the summer riots looking like a walk in the park.oh for a leader that looked up to the stars for this country and not a down to the gutter, what have the younger generation got in front of them, poverty gap growing, low home ownership, no job security, and mass unemployment, sounds rather familiar to europe in the 1930,s as lingong has said in his post , and look what happened then only a fool dosnt learn from history sadly europe and the uk is run by fools.

It's easy to be wise after the event but which government has got things right? I mean the billions and billions that Obama spent on his economic stimulus have been largely wasted, it's had next to no impact on growth at all, so the Keynesian approach hasn't worked either.

Besides which, you do realise that this whole desire for 'growth' is only because as a society we're so massively in debt we need to keep growing to pay the interest off. If you look at things realistically, there have been huge calls for the UK economy to be realigned away from finance and property and to build up manufacturing, green industry, creative stuff and so on to fill the gap. That aint gonna happen overnight, and you'd realistically expect a fallow time whilst that realignment takes place. If we weren't creaming ourselves about 'growth' to repay the debt that process wouldn't matter.

I mean if you were debt free as a household and you lost your job you'd expect to cut your costs down to a minimum to get through the tough times, maybe until you retrained and found work in a new industry, at which point you could spend in line with your income again. If you've got **** loads of debt however then you're in trouble. That's kinda how things are with our government, and it's the equivalent of taking out a payday loan to ensure we carry on 'growing' in the short-term and screw the medium/long-term.

The laughable thing is the sheer number of people that are begging the government to force the banks to lend more freely again because we need even more credit to get ourselves out of a hole caused by excess borrowing.

Sounds from that post like you're crying out for a Thatcher type figure to massively boost home ownership, drag the UK economy from the basket case it was in the 70's (think where Italy and Greece are now getting bailed out by the IMF) and get it back onto a competitive footing courtesy of hard graft and conviction politics.

You are super at putting things into context. I'm crap. I use lots of words and totally screw up what I wanted to say.

Telling your kids to get overseas must be painful. My Grandad said the same thing to me, he's ex Royal Navy and a proud man but that put the sh*ts up me a bit. As he doesn't get an awful lot wrong.

Anyway, nice words edge.

Sounds from that post like you're crying out for a Thatcher type figure

You sir, are a beast. Top popcorning.

We Only take the best, as our sporting prowess, stranglehold over the sexiest people in Hollywood title and the fact that out Treasurer was voted best in the World. Were in bed with China AND America so our World affairs are in all the pies.

The beers are cold, the air is warm and the girls are scantily clad.

You'll soon realise you should have done it for your kids years ago.

Tell em McB sent you.

Tour de France 2011 winner Cadel Evans and female athlete of the year Sally Pearson would beg to differ, but yes, our Cricket team resembles England in the 90s at the moment. I would'nt back them to win a coin toss ATM.

How easy is it to do though? Won't lie, I've considered it like. ^^

Easy if you have the right trade/skills. massive shortage of skilled workers in WA. Building trades,Boilermakers. welders, doctors, nurses get fast tracked can be accepted and working within a few months of applying, mining people list is long. One option is 2yr working visa and if you do rural work for 3-4 months (usually fruit picking)you get an extra 1 yr on your visa. Then you look for a sponsor employer who wants you to stay.
My lads all work 2 weeks on 1 week off they fly in and out of Perth to mines in the north of WA. They earn $100k+ all food accomadation flights paid for, they even get the frequent fliers points.
