Hold on though, not all euro economies are failing to grow and are basket cases like the British one:
Sweden 4.0%
Finland 3.1%
Germany 2.9%
Belgium 2.2%
France 1.6%
UK 0.7%
im not one of those cut people who want the benifts cuts at any cost reidy, im sure if they got there head together over the way they are given out, its miles to complicated and open to misuse, that im sure if anybody had the balls to get a grip of it they would self fianance any rise, and help the people it should be aimed at, myself id have a flat rate link it some way into credits earned while your working, the more you earn the more you get, if its ill health then thats diffrent it should be on your needs, the important thing with benifits is that anyone can find themselves on them due to no fault of there own so it shouldnt be viewed as a them and us thing , but it needs sorting , dont forget reidy some public sector workers are on rubbish wages justs above minimal wages levels, couldnt blame them if they said sod this, from a tory its a bit of a strange message reward the unemployed , paycuts in real terms for the workers its a sign of a goverment with no real grip of things to scared to admit they have got it wrong and wanting more of the same even when it plainly isnt working. The thing about 'benefits' though is that they are supposed to be calculated as the 'minimum required to live' so they have to go up with the cost of living or they are no longer what they are supposed to be.I do agree with what you say about sending out the wrong message like, but when you look at it the other way it's a different kettle of fish, and 5% of next to nothing is less than the 1% 'pay rise.'
Seen the forecasts though? All but Sweden there are headed for a big big crash.
This is just Germany France and Euro as a whole:
