What I can never understand about American Second Amendment zealots - their entire mindset claims to worry about a federal government having too great a power, but feel the need to support Trump when he is threatening to send the American military to attack American citizens on American soil...

Anyone help me out?

For sure, but there are a lot of constitutional absolutists in the 2A crowd. If you look I'm sure you'll find plenty who are uncomfortable about Trump's rhetoric. But Trump bluster has also desensitized them - in other words, he talks a big game but won't do squat.

When I was a kid Democrats were the pro-1A crowd and the Christian Coalition was trying to tell the country what could and could not be said. I agree, things have changed.

He won't do squat because he can't do squat in this situation. He can't just declare martial law. It's almost the ideal situation for him with regards to his base as they will see him "trying" to be tough and being stopped by liberal lefties or whatever.
