You can be appalled at systematic racism and also be appalled by opportunistic looting and disorder. The two are not mutually exclusive.
However unless the former is addressed I can’t see how you effectively control the latter as it is sparked by it.

And it seems like a lot of people only care about the systemic racism when the disorder happens making it all the more likely.

Their message has my support, however I can't condone a mass breaking of lock down rules when we're still in the grips of a COVID-19 outbreak.

There's a stark possibility that this gathering has the capacity to kill many more lives than it may save.

They are selfish idiots

Just walked past the London demo, which had been outside the new US Embassy in Nine Elms but was either breaking up or walking up to Parliament. Typically British, in that the demo accidentally packed out our Tesco (as people went in to buy a drink) and then queued up waiting for the tills.

Black American friend from another forum I post

“The West has been exploiting Africa and her diaspora for over 500 years. Floyd's death is nothing new in America. The only difference is more and more white people getting angry about it.

Cop with his knee on the neck should get the electric chair on national fckn television. He should burn in hell. Hope I'm being clear.

Other cops in vicinity should get life in jail. The only way to stop this is if cops feel they will be killed too and not just get paid vacation.

I have no problem with the riots, I have no problem with burning the police station to the ground, I have no problem with looting.

America has been looting black people for hundreds of years and no one bats an eye. One little police station burns down and everyone loses their minds.

White people last month stormed government buildings armed with military guns so they can get the fckn malls reopened and there was no violence. How can white people get away with that while black people can barely go outside without having a ten step plan to avoid getting murdered?

We've been peacefully protesting for centuries. It doesn't fckn work. Sometimes, in order to get justice, you must burn the whole fckn thing to the ground.”

those f words were full there as it is free to use it, but I edited.

Yeah, but orange man bad!

You are just trolling twitter for #antifa and posting way out of context tweets that have absolutely no reference to antifa (the account you linked to has 2 followers and 3 total tweets, including a response that includes a completely fabricated George Soros quote). I think you lack the intelligence to post something substantive. I mean that.

Massively missed the point here.

Of course there are those amongst the protesters who’s intentions are nothing to do with the death of George Floyd.

But given the Police being responsible for that death, for them to be complicit in further escalating the situation is reprehensible.

We’ve seen footage of them arresting and firing pepper rounds at members of the press, pepper spraying first aides, shield bashing an elderly man with a walking stick to the ground and there’s even a vid of a cop flashing the white power symbol at protesters.
Not to mention the national guard shouting ‘light them up’ as they fire riot rounds at civilians.

The ‘they’re just doing their job’ parade need to take a serious look at themselves here.
The police response to this situation has been nothing short of horrendous.

You don’t get to play the ‘they are just as bad as each other’ card here.
Again though, the two aren't mutually exclusive. America's culture, be it gun legislation, over the top training for police (every situation is life or death) exultation of the heroic warrior and all the rest of it has created an environment where the police think that the measures they are taking are acceptable (which they clearly aren't). There's socio-economic issues that lead to young blacks being far more likely to be killed by the police alongside the institutionalised racism. Looting has absolutely nothing to do with that, people attempting to murder people for defending their businesses has nothing to do with this.

Nobody, aside from obvious cranks, on here has explicitly defended the police or their actions, it's incredible that you think that anyone could.

Honestly the best advice I could give you is to ask them to read Engels' The Condition of the Working Class in England, as hopefully they'd realise that white people have been exploiting white people during all of that time too.

TBF this situation (the riots, the murders) are pretty much down to the police getting insufficient training and entirely the wrong sort of equipment.

They've militarised in a big way, as you can see in a lot of the footage - scary helmets, "tactical" padding, various ranged weapons, big sticks, military surplus armoured vehicles etc. Despite all this you see a lot of those cops without shields, never mind proper gloves, flame-retardant overalls, identifying markers etc.

Play the ball, not the man. Unless you're happy with middle class white kids burning black neighbourhoods.

I don’t think you’d ever see an American copper being able to de-escalate a situation other than shooting or baton someone to an unconscious state

I am directly playing the ball when I say that you lack the intelligence to post something substantive. By posting out of context tweets, you metaphorically brought a tennis ball to a football game--that speaks to dumbness. You have posted from known anti-semitic twitter accounts. I view racism/anti-semitism as rooted in a lack of intelligence. Maybe see this:
