This one irks me because of what they did to Kaepernick. Note, they still haven't apologized to him.
When they do that, get Dan Snyder to change his team name, don't curtail to the pressure of boycotting when players protest next season, and they get rid of the inherently racist owners that still linger, then they can claim to be making a change. Admitting they were wrong is a nice touch but it is incredibly hollow and futile until they act upon it.
They settled with him in court but they still owe him and the players that stood by his side in the early days an apology.

A settlement, by definition, doesn't make him whole. Nor does its existence preclude doing so.
I'm sure that the league's attorneys will advise him against setting such a precedent, but I'd need to see the right thing happen in order to believe that the league is truly committed to change.
