This is a commonplace argument on the right. They truly believe that as soon as someone receives a government check they lose the desire to work ever again. Nevermind that since this started people I and my GOP acquaintances both know have applied for unemployment, gotten it, made more money on it, and gone back to their regular job as soon as it became available again. I've also seen people applying to as many as 500 entry level positions despite the differences in wages be negligible. But no, everyone wants a free ride. Absolute rodents.

I remember it all vaguely, but as someone who doesn’t waste very much of my time trafficking in conspiracy theories, I never paid too much attention.

I admire this woman so much

I like her too, and presumably she'd prefer not to be derided by yahoos (or Yohos), but he's given her the opportunity to make a statement against misogyny in a public context. I think having an instance to react to his statement serves her better than making a similar statement without the context Yoho's created, which I think would be more likely to be discounted by your average observer as "AOC being AOC."

It's not like she's some shrinking violet here. By virtue of age and talent she has a command of doing politics via social media that few others have, and Yoho served her a big fat fastball right over the plate.
