Not sure where to put this, but need to vent and this seems as likely a place to do it.

Patient I saw this morning. He has been working hard to get his diabetes under control and is almost there. Today he told me his employers cut his work hours by half. He can no longer afford his health insurance and quit paying the premium.

I am desperate for him to get one last refill of insulin before he loses coverage so we have time to apply for patient medication assistance (takes at least 4 weeks), but he has minor things like food and rent to worry about.

No idea how I am going to help this guy.

I started listening to the audio book version of it and it's very damming of Clinton, but then it would be as Hitch clearly didn't like him

Any good books out there that could give a counter point?

Did you see the proposed change to the green card? Anyone down on their luck and needing welfare and or stamps won't be given a chance. If your family/household earns under a certain amount per year, the number yet to be determined.

They want to deny low income immigrants who hold green cards either by withdrawing it and telling them to leave or when up for renewal denying it.

It was on several news sources yesterday.

What was stdomingo saying when i told him that they would do this? He told me i was crazy and that we were safe. Idiot. Isn't he unemployed?

People forget they can take your green card away for whatever reason they want and given the lawyers cost an arm and a leg it would be a hard slog defending yourself. So of course they will start with the poorer of those holding a green card.

Was not that much of a fan of Hitchens, but his argument from about 3 min to 7 min is spot on and something that centrists are still doing now (and certainly did in 2016).
